RKN Beach Resort in Pondicherry
It’s been a while since I last wrote a travel post. So here it is for all you travel lovers, our experience of staying at RKN Beach Resort in Pondicherry. We visited Pondicherry (also Puducherry) last year in August to celebrate my birthday. You may wish me on 23rd August 😛
We prefer taking a vacation to celebrate birthdays & anniversaries. In summers, we travel to the colder regions like hill stations. While in winters we have many options, hills to experience the chills, beaches to soak in the sun or just the plains.
But monsoons are different, it’s always a task to look for places for a perfect vacation during the rains. So, we have been choosing the beaches since last 3 years on my birthday. In August 2016, we had an amazing time exploring the beauty of Goa in monsoons.
In August 2017, we decided to visit the God’s own country, Kerala. This was also the first time when my mother & mother-in-law traveled together for the first time.

Then came August 2018 and this time we wanted to have a short & relaxing vacation. So, we thought of checking out Puducherry which is a 3 hr drive from Chennai airport. Now, it was a big task to find a good resort for stay because Puducherry is not that famous as a tourist destination hence not many great stay options within budget.
5 Reasons Why You should Stay at RKN Beach Resort
Call us lucky that we found this gem of a place, a beautiful beach side property with ample space and activities. Though it was my birthday but at RKN even Nemit & his Nani had a gala time.
1. The resort is Kid-friendly.
As I always say if you are traveling with kids, make sure to plan a kid-friendly holiday and book a kid-friendly hotel for stay.
RKN beach resort has a lot of space which the kids would love for sure and they have a well maintained kid’s play area too. Lots of greenery around, clean & safe surroundings.
2. There are 3 swimming pools in the resort.
We spent most of our time chilling by the pool. It was my best relaxing birthday ever. It’s mentioned on their website that they have one of the biggest pools in Pondicherry.
And, Nemit learned his first jump into the pool here.
3. The resort has its own private beach.
Just walk out of the back gate & there you are, standing on the brown sand with the majestic ocean just in front of you.
One of their pools is situated right at the back gate. So, you could come from the beach, take a shower & jump directly into the pool. Oh, it was so much fun!
4. Many options for indoor & outdoor games.
Since it was August, the chances were that it might rain so we wanted to make sure we get ample options to spend our time indoors. They have Carom Board, chess, S Bridge and Billiards Table. They also have Gym & Spa facilities.
5. You can get amazing offers & packages if you book directly.
The only way we could book this place within our budget was because we booked directly with the resort. They were running a fantastic offer during monsoons & we saved quite a lot on that. But make sure to book early if you want the best rooms or the family room. Don’t forget to call them & ask about the room you would prefer.
Now, this was all about the things we liked about the resort. But to give you a fair idea I would also like to mention a few things which we didn’t like about the resort.
1- Their beach is not well maintained, no sun loungers or hammocks to sit & relax. But their private beach is an extension of one of the best beaches in Pondicherry, Paradise Beach.
2- The food was not so great. And, the service was average.
3- They don’t provide cab & it’s really difficult to get a cab from outside. We booked an Uber for sightseeing which took almost an hour to reach the resort. So, it’s better to have your own driver & cab with you.

Puducherry is long on my list, thanks for sharing the review of this resort. Being kid-friendly, and having a private beach it is on my list for sure.
Puducherry is a beautiful beach destination still not very famous among the tourists. You should definitely plan a trip there.
That’s an honest review!! We also take a vacation every year in August for my husband’s birthday. Though just back from jaipur, I feel like going for another one reading your post!! Thank you for the review!!

Pondicherry is Such a fun place for vacation and this resort seems to be in the midst of nature. Will remember it’s name for much visit. Love Nemit’s swimming video.
That’s so kind of you, Kinshoo. Thanks for stopping by.
I always wanted to visit Pondicherry, especially for Auroville. This resort looks great by photos for a family outing 🙂 but the cons you mentioned bothers me especially food and service.
Goa is very close to my place and the beaches are okayish, I love the beaches here at Sindhudurg (Konkan)
