Modern activities for Kids
Since we are always on the lookout for some fun, engaging, and beneficial activities for our kids, I thought of sharing some of our favourites with you today. So, in this post, I will share some modern activities for your kiddos that they can enjoy doing in their free time.
Just the other day, my husband and I were discussing how tech-savvy our son has become nowadays. Of course, I give credit to the online schooling where he is not just learning the regular stuff, but he’s also getting to experiment with modern technology.
Along with attending classes virtually, he’s also doing his assessments online, making presentations, and even playing games. So, from online yoga for kids to art & craft to learning new languages, the kids today have ample opportunities to learn & explore.

But having easy access to the technology doesn’t mean the kids have to stay glued to the screens the whole day. Because we very well know that the excess of anything is not good. So, keeping a healthy balance and following a routine is one of the easiest ways to support holistic development in kids.
Hence, the modern activities for kids that I am sharing today are a good mix of online and offline activities that can help kids stay active, learn new skills, and boost their creativity.
6 Best Modern activities for kids
1- Online Yoga for Kids
We all know how important it is for kids to stay physically active even if they cannot go outside to play. But we seldom give importance to the mental well-being of our kids. A healthy workout energizes them physically as well as mentally. And, there is no better activity than yoga to enhance the overall health of children. Online yoga for kids is the modern version of yoga specifically designed for kids, it’s easy & fun and has amazing benefits too.
We learned about online yoga for kids from our son’s Kindergarten teacher and Nemit loved those yoga sessions. There are some YouTube channels too that have yoga videos for kids. But if you want exclusive sessions, then you may also enroll your child in online yoga classes.
2- Art & Craft
Art & craft activities play an essential role in boosting a child’s creativity and imagination. Art is way beyond just doodling, and it is not just limited to paper and paint. The modern art & craft activities for kids help develop motor skills and creativity but also help in enhancing communication skills, maths skills, and problem-solving skills. In addition, easy access to digital art platforms has provided kids with ample opportunities to hone their artistic skills.
Dancing is the best form of whole-body workout as it provides both aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Moreover, it is known to have many psychological benefits for both kids as well as adults. Dancing is one activity that can never get old or boring. There are several dance games available online which are loved by kids. Two of my son’s most favourites are the Freeze Dance and The Floor is Lava.
Cooking is an essential life skill, and we must teach our kids the basics early on in life. Also, do you know that when you involve kids in cooking activities with you, it helps boost their development? We started involving our son in cooking when he was just a toddler. He would help peel and mash the boiled potatoes, and rolling the dough is still one of his favourite activities. He can make sandwiches and mug cakes on his own. You can find online recipes that involve flameless cooking that will be easy and safe for kids to try.
5- Scavenger Hunt
The next activity is the scavenger hunt. It is one of the fun activities that can be played alone or in a group. It can be played indoors, outdoors, or even virtually. Moreover, the game can be customized as per the child’s interest to make it more fun and engaging. This is how you can play a virtual scavenger hunt game.
The last activity on my list is gardening. I have included it as one of the modern activities because kids need to learn to love nature. In addition, the whole world is facing an environmental crisis, and involving kids in gardening activities could be the first step towards teaching them the importance of plant life on Earth.
Do you know garden activities can help reduce stress in children and improve their concentration?
When we started involving our son in gardening activities, we saw an instant boost in his mood. We even noticed an improvement in his concentration. He’s learning to be patient and calm while spending time with plants. Nemit is lucky to have his grandmother teach him all about plants. But you can find many YouTube channels for kids that are dedicated to gardening.
