Indian Brands Beat Plastic Pollution | World Environment Day

Let’s Beat Plastic Pollution

The theme for this year’s World Environment Day focusses on solutions to plastic pollution. And, the campaign is #BeatPlasticPollution. When I sat down to write this post, I initially wanted to share some easy solutions for reducing plastic pollution while traveling. However, a quick research made me realize that there are already many articles covering the same topic. Just as I was pondering what to do next, our grocery delivery from Zepto arrived; and there in the bag was a refreshing pack of chaach (buttermilk). I noticed the eco-friendly paper straw attached to it and I got the idea for this post. Why not highlight Indian brands that are actively taking steps to beat plastic pollution?

Plastic pollution has become a massive problem, impacting our world in ways we couldn’t have imagined. It’s alarming to see how plastics, once celebrated for their convenience and durability, have now become a serious threat to our environment. The extensive use and improper disposal of plastic materials have taken a toll on our planet, leading to significant damage to the environment.

From entangled sea turtles to stomachs full of plastic for seabirds, the consequences are devastating. We can no longer turn a blind eye to the immense damage being done.

We need the combined efforts of individuals, communities, and businesses to tackle this challenge. Thankfully, there are many Indian brands that have taken up the responsibility to beat plastic pollution. They are leading the way with innovative solutions and sustainable practices.
