Stay in Rakchham, Himachal Pradesh

Have you heard of this place called ‘Rakchham’ in Himachal Pradesh, India? If not, then you’re not alone. I planned the whole Spiti trip for over a month and still had no idea that such a magical place existed. It was Day 6 of our Spiti valley road trip and as per the itinerary we were supposed to take an overnight halt in Chhitkul. I had really high hopes from the famous ‘Last village of India’ but it failed to impress me. Well, not the place actually. Would you believe me if I tell you that we spent more than 3 hours searching for a decent accommodation in Chhitkul? But still couldn’t find anything satisfactory.

Spiti Valley Circuit Map

And, that led us to this serene village just 10 kms from the last inhabited village. Let me share some reasons why it’s a better idea to stay in Rakchham and not Chhitkul.

After several days of exploring the rugged beauty of Spiti Valley, we were looking for a place to unwind and soak in nature’s charm, and Rakchham did not disappoint.

Skip Chhitkul, Stay in Rakchham – Here’s Why

Here’s why I think Rakchham is a much better place to stay, whether you’re traveling with kids, parents, or even solo.

1. Less Crowded and More Peaceful

Chhitkul is often busier due to its popularity as the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibetan border. Rakchham, on the other hand, remains relatively untouched and tranquil. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway without the usual tourist buzz, Rakchham is ideal.

2. Proximity to Chhitkul

Rakchham is just about 10 km before Chhitkul. You can easily visit Chhitkul during the day and return to the more peaceful surroundings of Rakchham for the night. You get the best of both worlds, proximity to the attractions without the crowds.

3. Scenic Beauty

Rakchham is nestled between towering mountains along the Baspa River, offering breathtaking landscapes. The village provides stunning views of snow-capped peaks. And, its proximity to the river adds a unique charm that sets it apart from Chhitkul.

4. Better Accommodation Options to Stay in Rakchham

Chhitkul has limited stay options due to its remote location. Also, the ones which are really good are even lesser. Rakchham, however, offers a range of stays, including homestays, and riverside camps. The interesting thing about these stays is that these are equipped with modern amenities. I personally felt that the accommodation in Rakchham is more spacious and suitable for families, especially those traveling with kids of elderly.

Camp Stay in Rakchham

5. Local Culture and Village Life

Rakchham provides an authentic Himachali village experience. It’s a great place to immerse yourself in local culture, interact with villagers, and experience their lifestyle. For families or those looking to explore the region’s cultural heritage, Rakchham offers a more intimate connection with local traditions.

6. Great for Leisure and Adventure

Rakchham offers a balance between relaxation and adventure. You can take leisurely walks along the Baspa River or go on short treks nearby. Rakchham offers more variety in activities compared to Chhitkul, where options are a bit limited.

7. Less Altitude Stress

Chhitkul is at a higher altitude than Rakchham, which can make it harder for some people, especially kids and seniors, to acclimatize. Rakchham is slightly lower in altitude, which helps reduce the risk of altitude sickness. It still offers stunning views and a true mountain experience.

For travelers, especially families with kids or senior citizens, Rakchham serves as a quieter, more comfortable base while allowing easy access to Chhitkul’s attractions.

Exploring Rakchham: A Hidden Gem

Rakchham may be a small village, but it is surrounded by natural beauty and offers several things to explore. It turned out to be the ideal spot to wrap up our Spiti adventure. While Spiti itself offers stark, rugged beauty, Rakchham gave us a softer, greener landscape that was easy on the eyes and soothing for the soul. After settling into our hotel, we decided to take a stroll through the village to get a feel of the local life.

The village is incredibly picturesque, with traditional wooden homes, apple orchards, and fields of mustard flowers. The cool mountain breeze, coupled with the sound of the river and the sight of towering snow-capped peaks, created a surreal environment for us to unwind.

One of the staff members at our hotel suggested a short trek to a nearby mountain. We were in the mood to explore, so we went for it. The trail wasn’t marked, but the area was open and easy to navigate. It was slightly uphill but not too difficult, even for my mom. We walked through wide fields, slowly making our way to the top. And the view from the top? Totally worth the climb! We could see the entire Rakchham village below, with the Baspa River flowing gently through it. It was one of those views that make you pause and smile.

On our way back, we took a slight detour through an open meadow. A narrow stream was flowing through it, the water coming straight from melting snow up in the mountains. It had carved a small path through the grass before joining the mighty Baspa. A few cows were grazing nearby, totally at peace. We sat there for a long time, doing nothing—just watching the water, the cows, the sky. It felt like time had slowed down.

We spent a lot of time near the river, where Nemit enjoyed skipping stones and simply running around. It was the kind of quiet, peaceful day that was much needed after the hustle of our earlier stops in Kaza and Kalpa. My mother loved sitting by the riverside, making stone towers, admiring the scenery and soaking up the sun.

A Day Trip to Chhitkul

While we chose to stay in Rakchham, Chhitkul is just a 20-minute drive away, making it an easy day trip. The drive from Rakchham to Chhitkul is nothing short of spectacular. The road winds through lush green valleys with the Baspa River flowing alongside, and the sight of Chhitkul’s snow-capped mountains emerging in the distance is breathtaking.

Chhitkul is often referred to as the last village on the Indo-Tibetan border and is the highest inhabited village in the Sangla Valley. We visited the local Chhitkul Monastery, Mathi Temple and spent some time walking through the village, admiring the traditional wooden houses and the stone fences that line the streets.

One of the highlights of our day in Chhitkul was having lunch at the famous Hindustan Ka Aakhiri Dhaba. As the name suggests, it’s the last Indian restaurant on the road leading to the Indo-Tibetan border. We enjoyed a simple yet hearty meal of rajma, kadhi and chawal, which kept us warm in the cool mountain air.

<img class=" wp-image-8589 aligncenter" src="https://growingwithnemit.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Hindustan-ka-Aakhiri-Dhaba-Chhitkul.jpeg" alt="Hindustan Ka Aakhiri Dhaba.
For anyone visiting Chhitkul with kids, I’d recommend taking it slow and enjoying the natural surroundings rather than rushing through the itinerary.

Final Thoughts

Our stay in Rakchham was the perfect conclusion to our family’s road trip to Spiti Valley. It offered us a chance to slow down and reflect on the incredible journey we had just experienced. For anyone planning a trip to Spiti, I’d highly recommend adding Rakchham to your itinerary. It’s a peaceful retreat, away from the crowds, where you can connect with nature and enjoy quality time with your loved ones.

Whether you’re looking to explore the last village of India, Chhitkul, or just relax by the river with a cup of chai in hand, Rakchham has something to offer everyone. It’s the kind of place that lingers in your memory long after you’ve returned home.

But what truly set this trip apart were the activities at RiverMist Resorts. And for someone like me, a vacation isn’t complete without a bit of adventure. RiverMist Resorts offered all of that and more, making it an unforgettable getaway for our whole family.

One of the biggest reasons I had RiverMist on my wishlist for so long was its perfect mix of nature and thrill. While the resort offers all the comfort you could ask for, it also lets you experience the wild side of Chikmagalur, from trekking through lush jungles to walking in a river stream, from off-road jeep rides to stargazing under the clearest night sky. Sounds dreamy, right?

What Makes the RiverMist Resorts Special?

One of the best things about RiverMist Resorts is the fun filled activities, thoughtfully designed for all age groups. Whether you’re an adventure seeker, a nature lover, or someone who just wants to unwind, there’s something for everyone. My 9-year-old son and my 69-year-old mom both had a fantastic time, proving that the experiences here cater to different energy levels and interests.

The resort follows a structured activity schedule, so you don’t have to plan anything in advance. Just go with the flow and enjoy! Some activities are guided, while others can be done at your own pace. Here’s a look at the activity itinerary we received upon arrival:

Exciting Activities at RiverMist Resorts

With so many exciting activities lined up, we decided to take things at our own pace over the two days.

Day 1: After lunch, we decided to take it slow. My mom wanted to rest for some time so she went to the room, while my husband, Nemit, and I made ourselves comfortable near the pool, soaking in the beauty of our surroundings. You get ample time after lunch to rest, relax, or simply enjoy a swim at the pool before the evening painting and fish-feeding activities begin.

Around 4 PM, there was a painting activity, which Nemit and my husband eagerly participated in, while I took the opportunity to rest in the room for a bit. A little me time never hurts, right? They had set up a painting board in the lawn outside the reception, providing drawing sheets and paints for everyone. You could either paint or try a fun nature activity, collecting leaves, flowers, and twigs from around the area to create a beautiful collage.

Later, we had tea and went for the campus drive, one of the most exciting experiences of the evening. They take you around the property in a 4×4 vehicle on an off-road trail, and we got to stand at the back and enjoy the bumpy ride. Definitely a must-try!

We did this activity on both days. On the first day, we weren’t sure how safe it would be, so my mom chose to sit in the front while the three of us stood at the back. But after seeing how much fun we had, she didn’t want to miss out! The next day, she joined us at the back, ready to experience the thrill herself.

After returning, we went for fish feeding at the pond near the resort entrance. Such a simple activity, yet so calming. We spent about an hour at the pond, just watching the fish gather around and gently nibble on the food, it felt so surreal.

The Magic of the Night Sky

Next up was stargazing, and Nemit was beyond excited. Luckily, the sky was clear, and the weather was perfect. We could see Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn with the naked eye, but looking at them through the telescope? That was on another level. We even spotted three of Jupiter’s moons, and Saturn with its rings looked absolutely stunning! Easily the highlight of our day!

The last time we had such a mesmerizing view of these planets through a telescope was during our weekend trip to Kausani in Uttarakhand, where we visited a planetarium. But experiencing it here, in the open wilderness, made it even more special.

After stargazing, it was time for nature connect, an activity my mother and I absolutely loved. They arranged the chairs in a circle near the pool, and once everyone was seated, all the lights in the resort were switched off. We were also asked to turn off our phones.

And then… complete darkness.

The sky was filled with countless stars, and for ten whole minutes, we sat there in silence, simply listening to the sounds of nature. It was a moment of pure magic. My mother and I wished it lasted longer, completely lost in the serenity of the night.

But after ten minutes, they lit the bonfire in the middle and played some soothing meditative music in the background. The warm glow of the fire, the soft music, and the crisp night air created a surreal atmosphere, one that felt both calming and rejuvenating.

Exploring the Night Life of the Forest

We wanted to sit there longer, but if you have an energetic kid, you know how that goes! So, we moved on to the next activity, the night walk. It’s a guided walk around the property, focusing on the night life of the forest. They pointed out different insects and birds, shared interesting facts about the flora and fauna, and even told us some intriguing stories. My favorite was the story about how figs are pollinated, so fascinating! If you don’t know, you should definitely look it up on Google.

By this time, we were all exhausted and ready to crash. But Nemit? He was wide awake, eagerly listening and asking questions. His curiosity for nature always amazes me!

Calling It a Day

After the night walk, we had dinner, which was once again a delicious buffet spread. We were so full and tired that we went straight to bed by 9 PM, pretty early but it was necessary because we had an early nature walk planned for the next morning at 7 AM.

And with that, our first day at RiverMist came to a perfect end!

I didn’t plan for this post to be this long, but I truly loved everything about our stay at RiverMist Resorts and couldn’t help but share my experience in detail.

RiverMist Resorts in Chikmagalur

Hello everyone, hope 2025 is treating you with love! My year started a bit rough, and by the time January ended, I was completely drained, physically and mentally. I badly needed a relaxing break, and our stay at RiverMist Resorts in Chikmagalur came at just the right time. Nestled in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, Chikmagalur is a peaceful hill station known for its lush coffee plantations and misty landscapes, just what I needed to reset and recharge.

A Quick Life Update (Skip if You Want to Jump to the Resort Details!)

Has it ever happened to you that you planned something perfectly, only for life to turn around and say, “Nope, not today!”? Well, welcome to my life. This kind of thing happens to me all the time, and 2025 started off no differently. The first day was fine. We had just returned from a nice vacation in Kerala. And, I thought that was the perfect way to begin the year.

But on the second day? Boom. I fell sick. And not just a little sick, the “why is the world ending?” kind of sick. So much for a fresh start!

Now, a sensible person would have rested. But me? Nope. Instead, I poured all my frustration into work and went full-on editing machine mode on our Arunachal Pradesh vlogs. Five videos in a week, one after another. Did it help me calm down? Yes. Did it completely wreck my health? Also yes. Who could have seen that coming, huh?

After a week, I finally managed to drag myself around the house, thinking I was on the road to recovery. And that’s when these headaches kicked in. I was popping painkillers just to stay on my feet. I knew stress was partly to blame because, of course, January is Nemit’s birthday month and my mom was visiting soon.

Now, my mom visiting wasn’t the stressful part (love you, Mumma!). But planning Nemit’s birthday? That was a different story. I wanted to plan more than just a celebration, more like an experience for him and for us.

But that’s a story for another day, which I’ll share in another blog post, hopefully soon!

At this point, the headaches were unbearable, but resting was no longer an option. And since my mom was coming, we had to stick to our ritual of planning a relaxing trip together. That’s when RiverMist Resorts in Chikmagalur popped back into my mind.

This place had been on my wish list for ages. But, we kept postponing it because luxury comes at a luxury price. Honestly, we’re at that stage where we’d rather spend on adventures than fancy resorts. But considering how January had exhausted me, I thought it was time to give in and indulge. And that’s how this much-needed escape to RiverMist Resorts in Chikmagalur finally happened.

RiverMist Resorts in Chikmagalur

We’ve visited Chikmagalur three times before, and each time, we’ve experienced something new. RiverMist Resorts in Chikmagalur is one of those places that strikes the perfect balance between relaxation and adventure. For someone like me, who thrives on thrilling outdoor activities in nature, this resort was a dream come true. Surrounded by dense jungles and coffee estates, it offers an alluring view of the Charmadi Ghats in the backdrop.

From the moment we arrived, it felt like we were in the heart of nature. The resort is peaceful, with lush greenery all around, offering a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle. What I loved the most is that while the resort provides the luxury of comfortable cottages and modern amenities, it doesn’t take away from the raw beauty of the surroundings. It’s like the perfect combination of luxury and adventure, where you can unwind and relax or explore nature-filled activities, depending on your mood.

How To Reach RiverMist Resorts?

The most common way to reach Chikmagalur is by car. If you’re coming from Bengaluru, it’s about a 5 to 6-hour drive (approx. 250 km). We took the NICE road, then NH75. We passed through Sakleshpura and continued on SH27, eventually reaching Mudigere. From there, it’s about an hour’s drive to the resort.

The total journey took us about 6 hours, and the route is well-maintained, making the drive smooth and quite enjoyable. The resort is located around 68 km from Chikmagalur city.

A heads-up from the resort staff: about 5 km before you arrive, you’ll lose network connectivity, so they advised us to save the map offline. As we got closer, the road became more interesting especially the off-road stretch. The path was narrow, but driving through it was pretty exciting! The last 1 km before the resort was a bit patchy, and we even had to drive through a small river stream. It was a fun experience, and I’d love to go back during the monsoon to see the river with much more flow!

Overall, the drive wasn’t hectic at all. We left at 8 am, took a 30-minute break and a fuel stop, and reached the resort by 2 pm.

First Impression

As we drove through the last stretch and finally reached RiverMist Resorts, there was an instant sense of calm. We were greeted with a warm welcome by the staff, who offered us refreshing drinks, instantly setting a relaxing tone for the stay.

Upon arrival, we were also informed that the parking area is located a little higher up on the property. The staff handles parking for you, so there’s no need to worry about it.

Since it was already lunchtime, the staff kindly suggested we have lunch before heading to our room. One of the team members took a moment to give us a quick overview of the resort, outlining all the activities we could enjoy during our stay. They also told us about the private waterfall on the property, which we were all excited to visit. After thanking them, we sat down for a hearty buffet lunch. The spread was delightful, and we really enjoyed the food.

Accommodation at RiverMist Resorts in Chikmagalur

RiverMist Resorts offers a range of rooms designed to cater to different preferences and budgets. The resort has six types of rooms:

Luxury Pavilion: Features a spa tub and an open shower.

Luxury Wood House: Equipped with a jacuzzi, loft, and living space with a sofa.

Family Room: Perfect for groups or large families, with four beds that can accommodate up to eight individuals and two washrooms.

Luxury Cottages: Known for their classy interiors, jacuzzi, and huge balcony.

Premium Cottages: Spacious interiors with breathtaking views of the Charmadi Ghats from the balcony.

Deluxe Rooms: Spacious rooms, but without a balcony.

We had booked the Premium Cottage, considering both our budget and our requirements. Since my mother was also with us, we requested an extra bed, which was comfortable and met our needs perfectly. The room itself was spacious, featuring a king-size bed. The ample storage space with big almirahs was the cherry on the cake. The bathroom was equally spacious, with the shower area separated by a sliding glass door, adding a touch of elegance.

One of the best features of our room was the window wall, which provided a clear view of the beautiful Charmadi Ghats. The large balcony facing the Ghats made it even more special. The room came with several thoughtful amenities, including a kettle with tea and coffee-making supplies, a refrigerator, toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, swimming towels, a yoga mat, and a clothes-drying rack in the balcony.

However, one thing I always find puzzling at resorts is the lighting in the rooms. While the room was cozy and luxurious, I personally prefer brighter lighting, especially at night. Some resorts, like this one, tend to use minimal lighting with yellow tones to create a warm atmosphere, but I do miss having a bit more brightness in the room.

Food & Dining

One of the best things about staying at RiverMist Resorts was that all three meals, along with evening hi-tea, were included in our package. Since it was a buffet setup, we didn’t have to worry about ordering from an à la carte menu, which made mealtime super convenient.

The food was a mix of different Indian cuisines, with a strong influence of South Indian flavors. Every meal had both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, and the best part? The food was light, non-spicy, and well-balanced, making it enjoyable for all of us, including our son, who can be a bit picky at times. They always had at least one or two kid-friendly options in every meal, which was a thoughtful touch.

Breakfast mostly leaned towards South Indian cuisine, with just one North Indian option. While everything was delicious, I do feel they could add a couple more North Indian choices to make it more balanced. That being said, the highlight for my family was definitely the dessert section! My husband, son, and mom all have a major sweet tooth, so they looked forward to trying different desserts after every meal. Seeing them enjoy their sweet treats was a joy in itself.

Activities at RiverMist Resorts

This was hands down my favorite part of the stay at RiverMist! In fact, there’s so much to share that I’ve decided to write a separate post just about the activities. Otherwise, this one will turn into a mini travel guide on its own.

But to give you a quick idea, RiverMist has an exciting lineup of activities throughout the day, from nature treks and river walks to stargazing and bonfires. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re an adventure junkie or just looking to unwind in nature.

Things to Keep in Mind Before Booking Your Stay

Road Conditions & Accessibility – The last stretch to the resort includes an off-road patch and a river crossing, which can become tricky during the rainy season. If you’re driving a sedan, proceed with caution, as SUVs are better suited for this terrain. If you’re planning a trip during monsoon, check with the resort in advance about road conditions.

Resort Layout & Mobility – RiverMist is built on a steep landscape, which means walking from your room to the dining or play area involves climbing slopes. If you’re traveling with very young kids, carrying a stroller can help. For elderly family members who may have difficulty walking, it’s best to be mindful of the terrain before booking.

Mobile Network & Wi-Fi – There is no mobile network in the area, but the resort provides Wi-Fi. However, the Wi-Fi connection varies by location within the property. Some may find this inconvenient, so it’s best to disconnect and enjoy the serene surroundings with family.

Best Rates & Booking Tip – If you’re looking for the best rates, it’s advisable to book directly with the resort rather than through third-party websites.

Seasonal Activity Availability – Certain activities like river walking and waterfall visits may not be available during monsoons due to safety concerns. If these activities are a priority for you, check with the resort in advance about their availability.

Weather & Packing Essentials – Chikmagalur has pleasant weather, but it can get chilly, especially in the evenings. Carry light woolens if you’re visiting in winter. If visiting during the monsoon, be prepared for heavy rains and pack accordingly.

We made the most of our time there, indulging in everything from off-road rides and fish feeding to silent stargazing sessions under a sky full of stars. But I’ll save all the details (and my favorite moments!) for another post. Stay tuned!

Have you been to Chikmagalur before? Did you know about RiverMist Resorts before? Or is this going straight to your bucket list? Let me know in the comments!

Do you love binge-watching shows on OTT platforms? I’m sure you do, that’s probably why you landed on this page! Well, so do I. Years 2020 to 2023 was all about discovering K-dramas and swooning over adorable Korean actors, but in 2024, I decided to shake things up. This year, I gave Netflix shows and movies from other languages a shot. My husband and I tackled some South Indian movies (and yes, I survived all the intense action!). I also watched a bunch of of kids’ movies with my son, Nemit. While those were fun, nothing really stood out enough to mention here. But one movie we did enjoy together was The Wild Robot in theaters, it was amazing!

Now, we’re looking forward to watching Moana 2 this weekend. (Yes, we’re a bit late, tickets were impossible to get last week!). But coming back to this post, I’ve rounded up 12 Netflix shows and movies that I thoroughly enjoyed this year. I’m sure you’ll find something here to add to your binge-watch list before the year wraps up. So, let’s jump in!

3 Fav Netflix Movies (2024)

I originally planned to list 6 movies and 6 shows, but narrowing down the movies turned out to be so difficult! Netflix gave us so many amazing shows this year that I decided to spotlight just my top 3 favorite movies. These are the ones that truly stood out and left a lasting impression on me.

1. “Society of the Snow” (Drama, Spanish)

This one hits hard. ‘Society of the Snow’ gripped me from the start, especially the heart-pounding scene where the survivors make their first life-altering decision in the harsh Andes terrain. It’s a survival drama based on the true story of a plane crash in the Andes. And, let me tell you, it’s not for the faint-hearted. The moral dilemmas and raw emotions will stay with you long after it’s over. If you’re into Netflix shows and movies that make you feel deeply, don’t miss this one. (Pro tip: keep tissues handy!)

2. “Laapataa Ladies” (Comedy-Drama, Hindi)

What a gem of a film! Honestly, I took my own sweet time to decide whether I wanted to watch this movie. I don’t know what was stopping me, but when I got recommendations from so many people, I finally gave it a shot. And wow, what an experience! This quirky tale of two women who go missing on their wedding day is equal parts hilarious and thought-provoking. It’s full of vibrant colors, rich cultural nuances, and a fresh take on societal expectations. It’s the kind of film that makes you laugh out loud while also leaving you with something to think about. If you’ve ever wondered what Bollywood comedy with a twist looks like, this is it!

3. “Uglies” (Sci-Fi/Young Adult, English)

I’ve always been a sucker for dystopian stories, and Uglies didn’t disappoint. This one is based on a best-selling novel. Set in a world where everyone undergoes surgery to become “pretty”, it’s a gripping tale with stunning visuals and sharp social commentary. Watching this made me reflect on how society, in some ways, is becoming increasingly obsessed with outward appearances. The Korean entertainment industry, for instance, heavily promotes the idea of external beauty, and it feels like the whole world is running after those ideals. Perfect for a weekend watch when you’re in the mood for something thought-provoking and visually captivating.

9 Fav Netflix Shows (2024)

1. “3 Body Problem” (Sci-Fi/Thriller, Season 1, English)

This show blew my mind. It’s based on the acclaimed novel and goes deep into alien civilizations and humanity’s survival in such a brilliant way. The storytelling is so intricate that I had to replay episodes just to catch all the little details. The first season came out this year, and I can’t wait for more Netflix shows and movies like this! If you love sci-fi that makes you think, add this to your list.

2. “Lovely Runner” (Romantic Comedy, Korean)

This one’s for the hopeless romantics out there. This heartwarming story follows a woman who accidentally travels back in time and gets a second chance to rewrite her past. The humor is fresh, and the chemistry between the leads is adorable. It’s light, heartwarming, and leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. If you enjoy romantic comedies with a twist, this one’s a perfect pick!

3. “Jurassic World: Chaos Theory” (Sci-Fi/Adventure, Seasons 2, English)

If you’re a fan of dinosaurs (who isn’t?), this sequel to Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is a must-watch. Following the events of the animated series, the story bridges the gap between the younger survivors’ journey and the larger Jurassic World universe. Additionally, packed with adrenaline-pumping action, jaw-dropping visuals, and plenty of dinosaur chaos, it’s a nostalgic yet fresh take on the beloved franchise. Whether you’re a longtime fan or just love a good sci-fi adventure, this show is a must-watch. Don’t forget the popcorn!

4. “The Umbrella Academy” (Superhero/Drama, Seasons 4, English)

Our favorite dysfunctional superhero family returned with its fourth and final season, and what a ride it was! The adopted siblings reunite after their adoptive father’s death. They work together to prevent an impending apocalypse while dealing with personal conflicts and mysteries about their origins. The humor, chaos, and heartfelt moments made it so binge-worthy. The ending was quite unexpected. And, of course, Klaus stole the spotlight yet again with his hilarious antics. If you haven’t started it yet, now’s the time.

5. “Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhen” (Thriller/Romance, Seasons 2, Hindi)

This Indian thriller brought even more twists and drama in its second season. This series revolves around a young man, Vikrant, whose life is turned upside down when he becomes entangled in a powerful political family’s dark web.

CBSE Open Book Exams

Hello parents! How’s the exam season treating you? I know you are already taking good care of your children but don’t forget to take care of yourselves too. Don’t get too stressed, okay? Many of you must have heard about CBSE’s pilot program; Open Book Exams for classes 9 to 12. When I first read about it in a news article, I was so confused. Open book exams were a new concept to me, they still are to an extent! So, I did some research and learned more about it. Today, I want to share my learnings with you.

What are Open Book Exams?

Open book exams are assessments where students can bring in their books and notes to refer to during the test. Sounds crazy, right? They are saying it’s an innovative approach to testing but all I could think of was, “Now kids can freely and openly use their ‘chits’!” Haha, IYKYK! I’m not sure if those things are still in trend.

Jokes apart, these exams are not going to be that simple. I’ll explain that later. But first, let’s address the question: Why?

Why Open Book Exams?

Well, it turns out there are a few reasons behind the shift to open book examinations (OBEs). For starters, it’s about moving away from rote memorization and towards a deeper understanding of subjects. By allowing students to bring in their study materials, CBSE wants to encourage them to focus on comprehension, critical thinking and problem-solving skills rather than just regurgitating facts.

When I first heard about the OBEs, I was a little skeptical. I mean, isn’t the whole point of exams to test how much the child has <del>memorized</del> learned? But the more I read about it, the more it started to make sense.

The purpose of open book exams is to assess students’ understanding of concepts, their ability to analyze information and their problem-solving skills. In simple words, these exams are going to challenge the Indian education system.

You may also read: Why We Chose Montessori Over Traditional Schools?

How are these Exams Different?

In open book exams, questions are often designed to be more complex, more realistic and based on real-world situations, requiring students to apply their knowledge to solve problems. Students are expected to demonstrate their ability to locate relevant information, interpret it effectively and apply it to answer the questions.

So, if the student is not aware of the concept to be applied to solve a particular problem, even the books won’t help them out. Sounds scary?

Now let’s see how these exams can benefit students.

Benefits of Open Book Exams

We often complain that schools make our children learn things that are of no use in real life. Now with OBEs, our kids can learn how to apply their knowledge in the real world. These tests will check their understanding of concepts. And, that’s what we want, right?

Not just that, these assessments will take some pressure off our kids. When they know they don’t have to depend on rote learning for exams, they will be less stressed. Instead of cramming facts and figures into their brain, they can focus on understanding the lessons.

What if open book assessments cause more harm than benefits?

Drawbacks of OBEs

I still remember how our exams used to be so tough. We wouldn’t even get a second to look around; we just had to fill sheet after sheet without thinking. Now, with Open Book Exams, students may find it difficult to manage their time. What if the child spends too long searching for answers and runs out of time to complete the exam?

Also, what if students become overly reliant on resources? Some might struggle to think for themselves if they’re constantly looking up answers.

You may also read: Debunking Montessori Myths for Elementary Education!

Additionally, how are schools going to prepare their students to take up OBEs in such a short time? Are our teachers ready to take up this challenge? Or, do we have to wait for long just like we are waiting for full implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) in schools? Let’s see how CBSE is going to move forward with this new technique and how schools take up the challenge.

Main points of CBSE’s Pilot Program

As of now, OBEs are under trial.

The trial testing has been planned for November and December 2024.

Initially, OBEs will be conducted only for Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 in selected schools.

Students in classes 9 and 10 will take OBEs in Science, Math and English.

While students in classes 11 and 12 will take OBEs in Biology, Math and English.

For now, OBEs are not planned for board exams.

Looks like, CBSE still has a long way to go. But, if you ask me, I really appreciate all the new changes being introduced to transform our education system and make it better for our children. Implementing such policies is not easy, considering how huge and complicated our education system is. But the good thing is we are making progress. It may take many years to see the changes but at least we know it’s moving in the right direction.

Let’s Debunk Montessori Myths

Hello parents, I know looking for information about Montessori is not that easy. There are so many parents who want to choose Montessori education for their little ones but due to lack of right information and myths around Montessori, they have to drop this idea. Some people think Montessori is only for little kids while others believe that it’s only for special children. But guess what? It’s not! I’ve been on this Montessori adventure with my little one (lower elementary), and it’s been an eye-opener for us. Today, I want to share a bit about my own experience as a Montessori parent. I’ve come across some common misconceptions about Montessori education that I’d love to debunk based on what I’ve seen firsthand with my son. So here we are debunking Montessori myths for Elementary education (6-12 years).

Debunking Montessori Myths for Indian Parents

Myth 1: Montessori education is only for preschool-age children.

Reality: Montessori education goes beyond preschool!

My son is currently in Grade 3, and his Montessori journey has been quite rewarding. I wish we had started in a purely Montessori school when he began his schooling.

While Montessori is often associated with the early childhood stage, the philosophy has been successfully implemented in elementary, middle, and even high school settings.

Montessori for Elementary | Image Source – mecalex.org

You know what’s different? In Montessori for Elementary, they don’t make kids memorize stuff like a robot. Instead, it’s all about understanding things in a hands-on way. They don’t rush through tons of stuff; they focus on making sure kids really get the basics. It’s like building a strong foundation so that learning feels like an exciting journey, not a race.

Being a parent of an Elementary Montessori child, I can surely say that Montessori goes well beyond preschool-age.

Myth 2: Montessori classrooms lack structure and discipline.

Reality: Montessori classrooms are not like traditional classrooms with rows of desks!

Montessori Classroom (Environment) | Image Source – mcssb.org

It’s true that in a Montessori class, kids have more freedom, but it’s not a free-for-all.

Honestly, when we first stepped into the Montessori world, it felt a little <del>weird</del> different from what we were used to in traditional schools. Coming from that background, it took us a little while to get why things were set up the way they were.

Here’s the thing – Montessori environment is a thoughtfully structured and carefully organized space where everything has a purpose. The teachers know how to guide the kids while still letting them be in charge. It’s not about chaos; it’s about giving kids the power to decide what they want to learn. This also helps them learn to manage their time and make choices; building up their self-discipline.

Myth 3: Montessori education is only for gifted children.

Reality: Montessori is for everyone!

Montessori is inclusive and caters to children of all abilities. Montessori schools truly understand that each child is unique. That is why they have mixed age classrooms to let children progress at their own pace. Some children can be slow at understanding a certain topic while the other child of same age wants something more challenging. This need of a child to learn at their own pace is beautifully met in a Montessori environment.

This contrasts with traditional schools, where fixed curricula, age-segregated classes, and a focus on external motivators may pose challenges for gifted students to fully unleash their potential.

Myth 4: Montessori education ignores academics in favor of play.

Reality: While play is essential, Montessori education also takes academics seriously!

Montessori method does incorporate play-based elements, especially in the early years. But, it also emphasizes rigorous academic learning. The unique materials in the classroom make learning engaging and hands-on. It’s not just about memorizing facts; Montessori education actually helps the child in understanding why things work.

My son is learning through hands-on materials that turn every lesson into an engaging experience. He has developed a deep understanding of subjects like math, geography, science, and language through these materials.

Just the other day, he was working on a topic of square of binomials and trinomials. I couldn’t understand how he was doing it without using the formulas. But, I was greatly surprised when I saw that he was in fact using the formula but he didn’t have it memorize nor did he know that such a formula exits. For the first time in my life I understood where the formulas (a+b)² & (a+b+c)² came from.

Myth 5: Montessori schools are too expensive and exclusive.

Reality: Not all Montessori schools are expensive!

Montessori schools for elementary education in India might seem costly because there aren’t many of them. The few Montessori schools might have higher fees due to the special way they teach and the materials they use. But not all Montessori schools are super expensive, and some are working to make it more affordable. Our family found a fantastic Montessori school that fits our budget.

The key is to check different schools, see what they offer, and maybe even talk to other parents. By supporting and talking about Montessori and by debunking Montessori myths, we can help make it more available and budget-friendly for everyone.

Myth 6: There is no structured curriculum followed in Montessori.

Reality: Montessori classrooms follow a carefully planned curriculum!

Speaking as a Montessori parent, I can assure you that Montessori classrooms are anything but without structure or curriculum. Each classroom follows a well-thought-out plan, and teachers have clear goals for what kids should learn at each age. The unique thing is that the structure doesn’t mean everyone learns the same way at the same time. Instead, it’s about letting kids explore subjects in their own way and time. Montessori materials are like guides that help kids learn specific concepts, ensuring they cover all the important stuff while enjoying the freedom to learn at their own pace.

Myth 7: Montessori education is just about letting children do whatever they want.

Reality: Montessori education is about fostering independence and responsibility!

Kids are encouraged to choose their activities, but these choices are purposefully designed to align with educational objectives and promote meaningful learning experiences. It’s a beautiful balance between freedom and structure.

Debunking Montessori myths like this one is extremely important; so that more and more children can experience this magical way of learning.

Myth 8: Montessori kids face challenges when transitioning to Traditional schooling.

Reality: Even though some think Montessori kids might struggle in regular schools, many actually do great!

From what I’ve observed, Montessori education equips children with strong foundational skills like critical thinking and independence, setting them up for success in various learning environments. Montessori kids might experience a shock to see how their decision making ability can get limited in a conventional school setting. However, their ability to adapt in any situation will help them to thrive wherever they go.

Moreover, we should acknowledge that every child is different and how they react to a particular situation may also be different. Some kids may transition smoothly to any environment while others may take some time to get used to it. This also applies to children who are moving from one traditional school to the other.

Role of Time in Range in Managing Diabetes

Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) has simplified the process of tracking glucose levels for people with diabetes. It’s painfree, requires no finger pricks and gives real-time glucose data. In my last post, I shared the benefits of using FreeStyle Libre, a CGM device, in managing diabetes effectively. FreeStyle Libre uses a sensor to continuously measure the glucose present in the interstitial fluid. And the reader can show the current glucose reading, glucose trends, patterns and Time in Range (TIR) data. In today’s post, I will share more about the role of Time in Range in managing diabetes better. And, how achieving a higher Time in Range percentage using FreeStyle Libre can reduce the risk of long-term complications of diabetes.

What is Time in Range or TIR?

Time in Range is the percentage of time an individual’s glucose levels remain within a target range. This target range is typically 70 to 180 mg/dL but it can vary from person to person. Your medical practitioner can help you set your target range. When you use a CGM device, the reader can show you when your glucose has been within the range and at what time it spiked or went down.

Higher Time in Range percentage means that your glucose levels have been in the target range for a longer period of time. On the other hand, a lower TIR percentage would indicate fluctuating glucose levels.

Increasing time spent in range has a positive impact on glucose management and lowers risks of related health issues. In fact, every extra hour in range has a positive impact on your glucose control, and every 10% increase in TIR can lower A1c by ~0.8%. Moreover, spending more TIR can reduce long-term health complications.

Importance of Time in Range in Managing Diabetes

Your CGM reader can show you the exact percentage of time when your glucose levels were in the above/below target range. By utilizing the Time in Range metric you can better understand how your daily activities are impacting your glucose levels. And, in turn, you can take appropriate actions to achieve better overall health.

<img aria-describedby="caption-attachment-7456" class=" wp-image-7456" src="https://growingwithnemit.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Time-in-Target.jpg" alt="Role of Time in Range in Managing Diabetes.
Time in Range metric can help people in understanding how well they are managing their diabetes.

By using the CGM device you can aim to keep your glucose levels steady and in range, thus reducing the risk of low blood sugar & high blood sugar episodes.

Time in Range and HbA1c

HbA1c test has been considered an important means to determine the average glucose levels over the last 3 months. And, the doctors rely on the results of this test to understand how well their patients are doing in terms of managing their diabetes. HbA1c also helps in diagnosing prediabetes and diabetes.

Time in Range is an important metric that can be used in addition to HbA1c results to take charge of your glucose levels on a day to day basis. By using a CGM device like Freestyle libre, one can get insights into specific fluctuations or patterns throughout the day. People with diabetes can correlate the periods of high/low glucose levels with certain activities; like meals, physical activity, medications, stress levels or even sleep patterns and make changes in their lifestyle.

Reduce the Risk of Complications with FreeStyle Libre

By using a CGM device, people living with diabetes can easily aim to increase their Time in Range percentage.

Achieving and maintaining Time in Range can reduce the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) episodes. Hence, higher the Time in Range, lower the risk of developing diabetes-related complications.

Since the CGM device keeps you updated at all times about your current glucose levels, your glucose trend and Time in Range, you are always in control of your health.

As soon as you notice the fluctuations, you can take appropriate measures to bring your glucose levels back in the range. Thus, Time in Range empowers you to make informed decisions about your lifestyle choices.

As a caregiver to my husband, who has been living with diabetes, I have noticed how using FreeStyle Libre has made a significant impact on his overall well-being and diabetes management. Understanding and prioritizing Time in Range has been a transformative factor in effectively managing his diabetes.

Internet with Safe Search Filter for Kids.

The Internet is such a cool place if we can navigate it well! We can access any amount of information, use it for our entertainment and stay connected socially. But one wrong click can land us in deep trouble. Now imagine how scary this place could be for children who are not aware of the perils of the online world.

But, can we really keep our kids away from the internet to keep them safe? No, right? At some point they are going to get exposed to the virtual space. No matter how much we try, we cannot be with them all the time to protect them online. What we need is a safe search filter system like Happinetz which can help provide a safe internet playground for kids.

In this post, I’ll be sharing how Happinetz Box is assisting us in keeping our child safe on the internet.

Scheduling and Monitoring with Happinetz

A few years back we were struggling to limit screen time for our son. There have been days when he would sit in front of the screen watching cartoons for hours on end. Taking away the device from him or switching off the TV would mean a lot of crying and fighting. We had to strictly control our own device usage to model the same behavior to our child. I wish Happinetz was available back then as it would have made our job easier. Because it is not just a safe search filter but it also allows setting screen time limits.

So, if your child is young and you are also finding it difficult to manage their screen time then this device can be a game changer for you with its internet schedule feature.

Right now, our child’s safety online is what worries us more.

Our son is now at an age where he needs a device with the internet to use for educational purposes. Once a month, he gets school assignments where he needs to gather information about a specific topic which is then discussed in the class. Since we have a spare old phone, we give that to him to work on his assignments. But it never occurred to us that we are just offering an open minefield to a small kid who is unaware of the dangers of the internet.

Why Safe Search Filter?

We never thought of using parental control settings on our kid’s device; as we believe in building a relationship based on trust and having judgement free open communication. But we forgot that it is not about controlling what your child does online but it’s about keeping them safe from the bad internet.

We understood the importance of safe search filter when our son got exposed to some inappropriate content online. He was shocked as well as confused and was unable to process what he just saw. The good thing is that he came to us and showed us what he saw and we were able to calm him down. We can not let our children get impacted mentally or emotionally with any such inappropriate or harmful content available out there.

Online dangers are not only limited to inappropriate content, there can be phishing attacks, accidental malware download, invasion of privacy, identity theft, etc.

That’s why we need to provide the internet to kids that has a safe search filter and Happinetz does it all for us.

Happinetz – Safe Internet for Kids

Happinetz is the ultimate filtering system and nothing can escape through their filters. It monitors 110 million+ websites and apps and blocks about 18 million+ adult content & 4 million+ malicious ones. These figures are no joke, just knowing that my child will not come across any bad content online is such a huge relief.

Happinetz Box has made our job 100 times easier. Now whenever we give the device to our son, we are worry free because we know that Happinetz will take care of our child’s online safety. We are even using the screen time limit feature so we don’t have to remind our son to switch off the TV and get into unnecessary negotiations. As soon as the time limit gets over, the internet shut downs automatically on the device.

Happinetz Installation & Set Up

The first time purchase of Happinetz box comes with a 6-month free subscription. The package consists of Happinetz box, power adapter, ethernet cable, installation manual and reward cardz.

Montessori Over Traditional Schools

Hello everyone, hope you all are doing good! I am writing almost after a month on the blog, and oh, I missed this so much. But a lot had been going on in my mind regarding the content that I want to put out here. So, this time I want to take up a few topics which are really close to my heart and I want to share my experience and learnings about the same. Today’s post is part of one of the series I am starting on the blog and we will call it #OurMontessoriAdventures. And, I want to start it with the topic ‘Why we chose Montessori over Traditional schools?’

I want to take you on a personal journey, sharing why my husband and I chose Montessori education for our 6-year-old son over traditional schools.

Buckle up as we dive into the exciting world of Montessori magic!

Online Classes to Offline School

When our little one first started school in 2020, we were quite hopeful about his educational journey. But then, the pandemic struck, and online classes became the new norm. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, juggling work from home and helping our son navigate this virtual learning world.

Check out this fun video we made about parents during online classes-

As schools slowly reopened in 2022, we were thrilled at the thought of our boy going to explore the offline school, meeting his friends and teachers for the first time and not through the digital screen.

However, the reality turned out to be quite different. His school seemed to have forgotten that kids are, well, kids!

Children were made to sit for hours on end, lessons after lessons, without even a tiny break. Imagine being discouraged from using the washroom or refilling water bottles – it broke our hearts!

Our son came home drained and demotivated, dreading the next school day. To top it off, we received frequent complaints from his teachers about his restless behavior in class. Our little chatterbox found it challenging to sit in one place, preferring to chat with friends instead of paying attention to lessons.

You may ask what’s the big deal here?

Thousands of kids all over the country are part of such an education system and still they are doing fine. This is how it has been forever, isn’t it?

I have questioned myself again and again why all this is making me worried. Am I being paranoid for no reason. Am I being over protective? What if I am being irrational by questioning the traditional teaching environment? I have grown up being a part of such conventional learning and I turned out fine. I loved my school and my teachers.

But hello, are we forgetting that each child is unique! The times now have changed!

I may have turned out fine but there are many who suffer each day every day. Because they have no other alternative.

My son is not me! This thought struck me hard. I have always believed in the child led learning, easy going approach, let the child be a child and making learning fun.

So, why am I now failing at the hands of traditional teaching? When I know clearly this is not what I believe in and it is not the best for my child.

After a month of going back and forth with my thoughts, I realized that I was not alone in this. There were other parents who were also going through the same dilemma. There were long chats, basically vent outs, daily in the school moms’ group. Nobody was happy with what our children were going through at school. But nobody knew the way out.

That’s when we knew we had to find a better way for our son to learn and thrive. After a lot of research and soul-searching, we stumbled upon the Montessori method of education for elementary. The more we read about it, the more it felt like a breath of fresh air!

Montessori classrooms were all about nurturing the child’s curiosity, independence, and joy for learning.

Image Source – Lamplighter Montessori School

I was already aware of Montessori way of teaching and learning as I have followed a lot of their principles at home when Nemit was a toddler. Even his pre-school was following the similar philosophy focusing on multiple intelligence, inquiry based learning and experiential learning.

What helped us in our decision was an opportunity to relocate to Bangalore, the city known for some of the best alternative schools in the country.

With butterflies in our stomachs, we took the leap and enrolled our son in a Montessori school in Bangalore in June 2022. The moment he stepped into that child-centric environment, we knew we had made the right decision.

9 Reasons for Choosing Montessori over Traditional Schools

In Montessori school, our son experienced a world of freedom and exploration. The classroom was like a mini wonderland, filled with materials that sparked his imagination. Here are our 9 reasons that made us choose Montessori over Traditional schools at first glance. Our son joined the Montessori in Elementary Grade 2.

1 – Montessori classrooms don’t have any structured layout and seating arrangement. The children are not expected to sit at one place for the whole day. They can choose wherever they want to sit and they can choose whatever they want to learn.

2 – The role of the teacher in a Montessori environment is of an observer, guide or mentor. The teacher helps the child only if the child needs help or asks for guidance. There is no set curriculum and no lectures delivered.

3 – In Montessori, they follow an uninterrupted 3-hour work cycle which is the time when the child chooses the activity or topic he wants to learn and explore. If the child wants to continue with single subject, they are not disturbed during their work.

4 – Children in a Montessori environment are not expected to ask for permissions for loo breaks or water breaks. They can tend to their needs without worrying about the teacher’s reaction.

5 – Montessori classrooms typically have mixed-age groups, allowing younger children to learn from older peers and older children to reinforce their knowledge by helping younger ones. This creates a supportive and collaborative learning environment.

You may also read: Role of Play-Based Learning in a Child’s Development!

6 – There is no concept of rote learning and memorization in Montessori. Children work with special materials which facilitate the child’s exploration, understanding, and mastery of various concepts.

7 – Montessori education gives equal focus on extra-curricular activities. Along with sports and arts, they also include gardening, cooking, outdoor exploration, community service and social awareness.

8 – Montessori schools don’t expect parents or external tutors to teach children or help them with their homework, if there’s any. There is no burden of homework, assignments, projects, etc.

9 – There’s no concept of reward or punishment in Montessori. Instead of resorting to punishments or harsh discipline, Montessori teachers use encouragement and positive reinforcement to guide children toward making better choices.

The reason to choose Montessori over Traditional schools goes beyond academics.

Sure, the transition wasn’t without its challenges. As parents who grew up in conventional schools, we had to unlearn some preconceived notions. I will talk about this and many other things we are learning about Montessori education in my upcoming posts.

If you are someone who is in a dilemma whether to choose a regular school for your child or go for other alternative options; I would say do check other options too.

In the end, all we want as parents is to see our children flourish, and only you are the right judge of what will suit your child’s need. So, take your time, do some research, understand what will work best for your child and then take a decision.

Apart from this, I will also provide essential hair care tips to help you achieve beautiful, rejuvenated tresses.

5 Major Reasons for Dull & Dry Hair

The first step towards finding effective solutions is understanding the reasons for these hair woes. So, let’s dive right in and uncover the culprits responsible for our hair troubles.

<img aria-describedby="caption-attachment-7173" class=" wp-image-7173" src="https://growingwithnemit.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Major-Reasons-for-Dull-Dry-Hair.jpeg" alt="Dealing with dry and damaged hair with dandruff & hair fall can be a real struggle.
1. Excessive Heat Styling & Chemical Treatments

One major culprit is our trusty heat styling tools. Those flat irons, curling rods and blow dryers may give us that perfect look but they also strip away the moisture leaving our locks dry, brittle and prone to breakage. Hair straightening and coloring can be exciting but chemicals used in these treatments can disrupt the hair’s natural moisture balance and weaken its structure.

2. Over washing & Harsh Shampoo

Washing our hair too often or using harsh shampoos or other hair care products with harsh ingredients can strip away those much needed oils that keep our hair hydrated and protected.

3. Environmental Factors

Staying out for too long in the harsh sun, UV rays, in particular, can weaken the hair and lead to dryness and breakage. Strong sun rays, wind and pollution can all gang up on our hair leaving them parched and lifeless.

4. Poor Diet & Nutrition

Many people don’t even accept that poor diet can be a reason for their unhealthy and damaged hair. A diet rich in essential nutrients like, vitamins, minerals and proteins, is necessary for hair growth and maintenance.

5. Hormonal Changes & Stress

Hormonal imbalances caused by factors like pregnancy, underactive thyroid, PCOS, menopause, or certain medical conditions can contribute to hair loss and affect the hair’s texture and quality. Also, high levels of stress and anxiety can impact overall health including hair health.

4 Best Onion Oil Brands in the Market

Hair oiling not only nourishes and moisturizes the scalp but also make the hair softer, smoother, and more manageable. Regular oiling strengthens the hair, reducing breakage and split ends. It also stimulates hair growth by improving blood circulation to the scalp. The right Onion Oil can soothe and condition the scalp, alleviating dryness, itchiness, and flakiness. Moreover, hair oils act as a protective barrier against environmental damage, such as sun and pollution. Here are the 4 best onion oil brands for dry and damaged hair.

5 Hair Care Tips to Get Soft, Shiny, Healthy Hair

1. Select the Right Hair Oil for your Hair Type

There are many different hair oils available in the market. It’s crucial that you choose the right hair oil that suits your hair type and addresses your specific concerns. The best way to use hair oil is to warm it before applying on your hair. It’s important that you massage your scalp while applying hair oil as it stimulates blood circulation and aids in the absorption of oil’s nutrients.

2. Choose the Right Shampoo and Conditioner

It’s better if you select a mild shampoo which is free from chemicals, sulphates, silicones and parabens. Look for shampoos and conditioners specifically formulated for your requirement. Never skip applying a conditioner after shampooing. Look for hydrating and nourishing hair masks or deep conditioners to restore moisture and repair damage.

3. Use Lukewarm Water for Washing Hair

Always wash your hair with cold or lukewarm water instead of hot water. Lukewarm water helps retain moisture and keeps the hair cuticles smooth whereas hot water can strip the hair of its natural oils.

4. Use a Wide-Toothed Comb and Avoid Over Brushing

When your hair is wet, use a wide toothed comb to gently detangle your hair. Always start from the ends to avoid breakage. And, avoid overbrushing.

5. Switch to Silk or Satin Pillowcase

Consider replacing your cotton pillowcase with a silk or satin alternative. These fabrics cause less friction against the hair, reducing hair fall and preserving the hair’s softness and shine.

<img aria-describedby="caption-attachment-7178" class=" wp-image-7178" src="https://growingwithnemit.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/5-Hair-Care-Tips-to-Get-Soft-Shiny-Healthy-Hair.jpeg" alt="Dealing with dry and damaged hair with dandruff & hair fall can be a real struggle.
