Do you love binge-watching shows on OTT platforms? I’m sure you do, that’s probably why you landed on this page! Well, so do I. Years 2020 to 2023 was all about discovering K-dramas and swooning over adorable Korean actors, but in 2024, I decided to shake things up. This year, I gave Netflix shows and movies from other languages a shot. My husband and I tackled some South Indian movies (and yes, I survived all the intense action!). I also watched a bunch of of kids’ movies with my son, Nemit. While those were fun, nothing really stood out enough to mention here. But one movie we did enjoy together was The Wild Robot in theaters, it was amazing!

Now, we’re looking forward to watching Moana 2 this weekend. (Yes, we’re a bit late, tickets were impossible to get last week!). But coming back to this post, I’ve rounded up 12 Netflix shows and movies that I thoroughly enjoyed this year. I’m sure you’ll find something here to add to your binge-watch list before the year wraps up. So, let’s jump in!

3 Fav Netflix Movies (2024)

I originally planned to list 6 movies and 6 shows, but narrowing down the movies turned out to be so difficult! Netflix gave us so many amazing shows this year that I decided to spotlight just my top 3 favorite movies. These are the ones that truly stood out and left a lasting impression on me.

1. “Society of the Snow” (Drama, Spanish)

This one hits hard. ‘Society of the Snow’ gripped me from the start, especially the heart-pounding scene where the survivors make their first life-altering decision in the harsh Andes terrain. It’s a survival drama based on the true story of a plane crash in the Andes. And, let me tell you, it’s not for the faint-hearted. The moral dilemmas and raw emotions will stay with you long after it’s over. If you’re into Netflix shows and movies that make you feel deeply, don’t miss this one. (Pro tip: keep tissues handy!)

2. “Laapataa Ladies” (Comedy-Drama, Hindi)

What a gem of a film! Honestly, I took my own sweet time to decide whether I wanted to watch this movie. I don’t know what was stopping me, but when I got recommendations from so many people, I finally gave it a shot. And wow, what an experience! This quirky tale of two women who go missing on their wedding day is equal parts hilarious and thought-provoking. It’s full of vibrant colors, rich cultural nuances, and a fresh take on societal expectations. It’s the kind of film that makes you laugh out loud while also leaving you with something to think about. If you’ve ever wondered what Bollywood comedy with a twist looks like, this is it!

3. “Uglies” (Sci-Fi/Young Adult, English)

I’ve always been a sucker for dystopian stories, and Uglies didn’t disappoint. This one is based on a best-selling novel. Set in a world where everyone undergoes surgery to become “pretty”, it’s a gripping tale with stunning visuals and sharp social commentary. Watching this made me reflect on how society, in some ways, is becoming increasingly obsessed with outward appearances. The Korean entertainment industry, for instance, heavily promotes the idea of external beauty, and it feels like the whole world is running after those ideals. Perfect for a weekend watch when you’re in the mood for something thought-provoking and visually captivating.

1. “3 Body Problem” (Sci-Fi/Thriller, Season 1, English)

This show blew my mind. It’s based on the acclaimed novel and goes deep into alien civilizations and humanity’s survival in such a brilliant way. The storytelling is so intricate that I had to replay episodes just to catch all the little details. The first season came out this year, and I can’t wait for more Netflix shows and movies like this! If you love sci-fi that makes you think, add this to your list.

2. “Lovely Runner” (Romantic Comedy, Korean)

This one’s for the hopeless romantics out there. This heartwarming story follows a woman who accidentally travels back in time and gets a second chance to rewrite her past. The humor is fresh, and the chemistry between the leads is adorable. It’s light, heartwarming, and leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. If you enjoy romantic comedies with a twist, this one’s a perfect pick!

Our favorite dysfunctional superhero family returned with its fourth and final season, and what a ride it was! The adopted siblings reunite after their adoptive father’s death. They work together to prevent an impending apocalypse while dealing with personal conflicts and mysteries about their origins. The humor, chaos, and heartfelt moments made it so binge-worthy. The ending was quite unexpected. And, of course, Klaus stole the spotlight yet again with his hilarious antics. If you haven’t started it yet, now’s the time.

5. “Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhen” (Thriller/Romance, Seasons 2, Hindi)

This Indian thriller brought even more twists and drama in its second season. This series revolves around a young man, Vikrant, whose life is turned upside down when he becomes entangled in a powerful political family’s dark web. The love story is intense, and the suspense will keep you hooked till the very end. If you enjoy a mix of romance and edge-of-your-seat moments, this one’s for you.

6. “Sweet Home” (Horror/Action, Seasons 3, Korean)

If you enjoy gripping horror and action-packed dramas, Sweet Home is a great way to experience this Korean hit series. Set in a world where humans transform into terrifying monsters driven by their innermost desires, the story follows a group of survivors fighting to stay alive. This year, Season 3 brought even more intense action, emotional moments, and shocking twists. Whether you’re new to the series or catching up, this season delivers a thrilling mix of horror, and humanity.

7. “Parasyte: The Grey” (Horror/Thriller, Season 1, Korean)

Creepy and captivating, this show is everything a horror fan dreams of. Based on a popular manga, it’s packed with spine-chilling moments and deep, philosophical questions. And before I wrap up, how can I not mention Squid Game Season 2? It’s finally arriving on 26th December 2024, and the hype is real. Following the phenomenal Season 1, I can’t wait to see where the story goes. Let’s just say my New Year plans are already shaping up!

As always, the major part of my travels includes clicking pictures and taking videos to document the adventures. As a travel blogger and mom, capturing those perfect moments isn’t just about creating memories; it’s about telling stories that inspire. Whether you’re a pro or just starting out, there are many easy ways to get good pictures without needing a high-end camera or photography classes. A little creativity, planning, and some tried-and-tested techniques can go a long way in elevating your photos. But don’t get too caught up in perfection, it’s those spontaneous, imperfect moments that often turn out to be the most memorable.

10 Easy Ways to Get Good Pictures

Whether it’s an epic road trip through scenic mountains or a spontaneous stop at a hidden gem along the way, the journey itself is full of photo-worthy moments. For me, capturing these memories means embracing both the chaos and the calm. From the joyful laughter of my little one exploring new places to the peaceful sunsets that signal the end of an adventurous day, every moment tells a unique story. And while snapping pictures is important, it’s also about finding that balance between being behind the lens and truly experiencing the magic of travel with my family.

Let’s check out some quirky, easy ways to get good pictures, especially while you travel with kids!

1. Golden Hour Magic

One of the easiest ways to get good pictures is to shoot during the “Golden Hour,” which is right after sunrise or just before sunset. The gentle glow of natural light adds a soft, magical touch to every scene. Whether it’s a family picture on the beach or a mountain backdrop, this natural lighting will add a glow to your photos.

Plus, kids are usually more energetic in the mornings, perfect for getting those candid smiles. If you’re traveling with kids, make it a fun activity to wake up early, indulge in a morning expedition and capture those lovely moments.

Pro tip: With golden hour being short, plan ahead by having your camera settings ready and equipment on hand.

2. Use Rule of Thirds

Ready to make your photos go from ordinary to extraordinary? Activate the grid lines on your camera or phone and follow the Rule of Thirds. Most people usually like to keep the subject in the middle of the grid lines. But if you place the subject off-center where the lines intersect, you’ll instantly see the difference in your photos.

We went to see Chagzam Bridge, Tawang which is a stunning ancient engineering marvel (from 600 years ago) but unfortunately we reached too early & found it to be locked. This is the other new bridge alongside Chagzam bridge.

Pro tip: The easiest way to use the rule of thirds is by first arranging your camera angle & frame and then taking position as per the grid lines.

3. Play with Angles

One of the easiest ways to get good pictures that stand out is to experiment with different angles. Crouch down to get an upward shot, or stand on a chair for an overhead view. For family photos, especially with kids, go down to their eye level. It captures their world in a much more relatable way, creating authentic and engaging images.

This was clicked at Dirang Monastery, Arunachal Pradesh. This was not planned but it was in our destiny to visit this place. The roads got blocked because of a landslide and we got some extra time to explore the area.

Pro tip: Use an extendable tripod or selfie stick to get those drone like shots or simple overhead shots.

4. Look for Leading Lines

Leading lines are natural lines in the scene that draw the viewer’s eye to the subject. Roads, rivers, fences, and even a row of trees can help lead the eye right to your subject, making the photo more dynamic. It’s one of the easiest ways to get good pictures when you’re out exploring new landscapes.

This hanging bridge is in Bhutan. This was not on our itinerary but flow of events took us to this beautiful place.

Pro tip: If you’re at a beach, use the shoreline or footprints in the sand as your leading lines.

5. Use Props for a Personal Touch

Adding a few travel-related props can make your pictures more interesting and relatable. Hats, maps, camera, or even a suitcase in the background can add layers of storytelling to your photos. Some of the best travel photos happen when you’re not posing. Capture moments when your family is deep in conversation, laughing, or even just exploring the area. These unplanned shots often hold the most emotion and tell a more genuine story of your travel experiences.

This is clicked at a famous sheep farm in Sangti Valley, Arunachal Pradesh. Since it was raining when we arrived, the sheep were already back in their sheds. We had nothing else to do so we turned our goofiness on.

Pro tip: Set your camera to burst mode when kids are playing or running around. You’ll capture a series of images that you can later pick the best from.

7. Master the Art of Framing

Natural frames can make your photos look more polished. Doors, windows, trees, or even an archway can serve as frames within your picture, drawing focus to the subject. It’s one of the easiest ways to get good pictures that look professional, even if you’re just using your phone.

We were so upset as this was the last day of our Spiti Trip. But then we decided to make the best out of this day and went for a beautiful hike in Rakchham village near Chitkul, HP.

Pro tip: Try taking reflection shots after it rains or by a calm lake. Just make sure the water is still to capture a clear reflection.

10. Edit but Don’t Overdo It

Finally, once you’ve taken all these great photos, a little editing can go a long way. There are plenty of free apps like InShot, Snapseed, and Lightroom that offer easy-to-use filters and tools. Just adjust a bit of exposure, shadows and vibrancy to enhance the colors. However, don’t over-edit, it’s important that your pictures still look natural and not overly touched up.

It was raining the whole night and Sumit was worried that this bad weather might ruin our trip. I told him not to think about the whole trip but just this moment and we stopped the car and enjoyed the drizzling before moving on with our journey.

Pro tip: Before moving on to an app to edit your pictures, try using the edit feature on your phone itself. It’s time-saving!

• Patience is key: With kids, especially, getting that perfect shot takes time. Relax and enjoy the moment while you wait for the right shot to come.
• Keep snacks handy: A hungry kid is never in the mood for pictures, but a quick snack can change that!

Hello everyone, today I am here to share my thoughts about the movie ‘Last Film Show‘ or ‘Chhello Show‘. But before doing that I also want to share that I’ve joined the Creative Soul Club, an initiative by Blogchatter & I am proud to announce that #IAmACreativeSoul now.

I feel so charged up when I am doing some creative stuff and calling myself a creative soul feels fantastic.

So, this movie ‘Last Film Show’ was suggested by our hosts Leha and Aakashi to be discussed during the first meeting of #TheCreativeSoulClub on Clubhouse. And, I must say what an amazing choice! There could have been nothing better than this movie to talk about during our first meetup.

Honestly, I was not too impressed initially when I saw the movie name and the trailer. Seriously, don’t make a choice of watching this movie only based on what’s shown in the trailer. You should watch the whole movie to feel the emotions in this one.

The way this movie unfolds will leave you speechless. Last Film Show is a beautiful family movie, originally in Gujarati. It explores the innocence of childhood, creativity, human relationships; all through the eyes of 9 year old Samay who wants to ‘learn light’.

My Thoughts on the Movie ‘Last Film Show’

Please note that this is not a movie review, I am just sharing my thoughts about the movie.

There are so many scenes which I liked in the movie as I could relate to them as a mother. I see my son (soon to be 7) doing the same stuff, sometimes living in his own world of imagination & using his creativity to bring life to his ideas.

One of my favorite scenes is when Samay creates a bike ride scene with his friends. One of his friends stands holding a broken bike handle and pretends to be riding a bike. Samay is moving his shirt with the help of strings to make it look like it’s flowing in the wind. And, two of his friends are running around with the branches of the trees. When looked from a small rectangular box, it seemed like the boy is actually riding a bike passing through several trees lined on both the sides of the road.

This was a wow moment for me. Superb imagination and a stupendous way of using creativity to give life to an idea. The movie got even more interesting post this scene.

Reference to Light in the movie

There’s a lot of reference to light in the movie. Light can hold different meanings to different people. I think, for Samay, light meant the source or magic or may be a dream. It’s shown how he started understanding the way light works to create shadows & how light helps in projection of movies.

Samay’s journey in the movie from wanting to ‘catch light’ to ‘learn light’ is beautifully depicted. I find the message that we should believe in our dreams too just like Samay believed in Light. No matter how senseless our dreams may seem to the others, we need to keep working on those dreams to achieve them one day and make them a reality.

There are many takeaways for children & parents from this movie. The biggest one for me is to look at life from a different angle, understanding that our kids may be our own reflection but they have their own mind that thinks differently. We need to accept them for who they are as an individual and respect their beliefs, interests and choices.

Also, how important it is for parents to understand that letting go of their kids at a certain time would mean helping the kids in achieving their dreams even if it breaks the parents from inside. Sometimes, it’s not about you, it’s about them.

Lastly, what a beautiful learning for kids. Never let your curiosity & desire to learn new things diminish just because it doesn’t fit well with some people. You will go through emotional turmoil, you may fail or fall down but you have to get up & get going.

I also want to mention about friendship here. When we are kids, the meaning of friendship is totally different than as we see it as adults. Friends are ready to do anything for each other. Samay and his friends play together, explore together and be there for each other.

The last scene of the movie made me so emotional, I couldn’t stop my tears from falling down. You could feel the pain and happiness at the same time.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I liked the movie but there are few things which didn’t fit well with me. I found the movie little slow, at some points, it felt boring. Samay’s father beating him with a stick and no one came to stop him. It was so heartbreaking. The role of Samay’s mother could have been better I feel. Rest you should watch it to understand what I am saying.

Special mention to Samay’s teacher, who showed him the right path without forcing it on him. We don’t see many teachers like him in real life though.

Hello everyone, are you ready to bid goodbye to 2022 and welcome the New Year 2023? The one thing that I always do in December is to reflect upon the events that happened so far in the year. It’s like revisiting the memories we made and the lessons we learned. It’s also a reminder that no matter what happens in life, we should keep moving towards the finish line. That’s the only way to stay happy. When you choose to go on with life, it’s when the life chooses you back. This is what I experienced in the second half of the year. So, here’s a glimpse of our life in Bangalore and some of our precious memories of 2022.

Memory 7

Corona, Cancelled Flight & Bangalore

We booked our flights for Bangalore well in advance & everything was going well. I was so happy as my mom will also be coming to Bangalore with us. And then, 3 days before our flight, my mom got infected with corona for the second time. The next day, my husband fell sick. My anxiety was touching the roof and I started losing it once again. After 2 days, my son and I also got infected. Everything seemed falling apart.

I was dying from inside but had to put up a brave face in front of my mom. I was smiling and telling her that all this is happening just to prepare us for the new life we are entering into.

We had to cancel our flights as now we had no idea when we could move to Bangalore. Every time corona strikes it feels like the end is near.

But you know what, the moment we accept our situation and stop fighting it, everything fall into it’s place. We started recovering in a week. And, once we got a go ahead from our doctor, we booked the flights again.

Memory 8

Nemit’s 1st Field trip

It was Nemit’s 1st month in a new school and he had already made so many friends there. The school has planned a field trip to Lal Bagh Botanical Garden on the last Saturday of the month. Initially, we were a bit scared to send him alone for a day trip in a new city but looking at his excitement we could not stop him from going. This was Nemit’s first field trip with school.

He had so much fun with his friends and teachers, the day turned out fantastic not just for Nemit but for us as well. I got a chance to go on a morning date with Sumit after sending Nemit for the trip.

It was such a memorable day!

Memory 9

Pain & Naturopathy

I have never been to Bangalore before but it feels like home to me. Never felt this connection with Noida where we stayed for 7 years. My life in Bangalore was going good. The only thing that was bothering me here is my health. I was having constant pain in my lower abdomen and back. And, it was getting worse day by day. But, I kept ignoring it thinking it to be my PMS symptoms or something related to fibroids. My previous doctors have already given up and asked me to get my uterus removed. So, I didn’t make any efforts to meet new doctors here.

I was spending most days in the bed, not able to get up and do my daily chores. I would feel good for a few days and then the pain would come back again. All that pain started affecting me mentally and emotionally. I had lost faith in the doctors (because of my previous experience of failed treatments) and I was losing faith in me as well.

The worst part of all this was it was having a negative impact on Nemit too. I can’t even imagine how horrifying it must have been for this little kid to see his mother suffering like that every day. Sumit tried his best to take care of everything at home so that I could just take rest.

I lost it the day I received a feedback from Nemit’s school saying he’s behaving strangely and not paying attention to anything in the class. I knew it was because of me.

No mother can see their child suffering especially when they know they are the reason for that suffering.

My mom has also come to visit us that month and when she saw me going through so much, she decided to take things in her hands. And, for my son’s sake I agreed to do whatever she wanted me to do. My life in Bangalore was about to change.

Then started a series of doctor visits, tests and scans. My mom found a new doctor in Bangalore who pushed us to try Naturopathy for a few days.

My life took a 180 degree turn when I enrolled myself for 10 days naturopathy treatment at Nature Cure Hospital. I spent those 10 days away from Nemit and Sumit, it seemed impossible in the beginning, but the things settled down soon.

I met the most loving and kind people in that hospital and those were the staff working there. From caretakers to doctors, everyone was so down to earth and so dedicated to their work and towards the patients there, I got my smile back only because of them.

It’s one of my most precious memories!

Memory 10

Bangalore to Goa Road Trip

We love traveling and exploring new places. So, when we came to Bangalore, we listed down all the places we wanted to see. We started exploring known and unknown places every weekend.

And, in October, we planned our first long Road Trip from Bangalore to Goa.

The memories from this trip will always be very close to my heart. After such a long time I was not in any pain and I was able to enjoy fully with my family.

Memory 11

Working with Blogchatter

There is one thing which I do only for my own happiness and that’s blogging and making videos. And, this is also the reason that I am not able to do it consistently. But I am learning to make my happiness a priority. I have started taking therapy also as I was told during my time at naturopathy center that my pains are more originating from my mind than from my body. I am putting efforts daily on self care and hopefully it will show up in my work too.

One of the best things about blogging is that I get to work with Blogchatter. They are the ones who made me realize my value as a Blogger. I love how they encourage writers, bloggers and content creators to keep going by bringing various interesting programs. Moreover, they bring to you opportunities to collaborate with wonderful brands and get a chance to earn and grow.

In 2022, I got to work with Abbott for their campaign #LivingFullyWithDiabetes and with Cif for the campaign #DontJustCleanItCifIt. I also participated in the Blogchatter’s #15DaysReelsChallenge which made me forget the pains in my life for those days.

And, now the Blogchatter’s blog hop has pushed me to write once again and bring my blog back to life.

I wish Blogchatter and the team grow more and more and achieve new heights in the comings years too. And, hope that I can make many more memories with them.

Hello everyone, hope all is going well at your end. If the times are hard then please stay strong as this too shall pass. And remember, better days are just around the corner. This is what that’s keeping me going in the past few months. Nothing lasts forever, not even the grief. Eventually, we learn to move on. But one thing that we carry with us forever are the memories we collect on this journey called life. I still can’t believe that the year 2022 is about to end and in a month we will be entering the new year focusing on the new beginnings. But before getting ready to welcome the year 2023 I want to stop and look back at the memories of 2022 and preserve them forever in my heart.

Ever since the Covid entered our lives I learned to embrace not just the good memories but also the ‘not so good’ ones as they make us humble and act as a reminder that all things are not in our hands. Most importantly, we learn to include gratitude in our daily lives. So, today, I want to share my 11 Memories of 2022 with you all and give you a glimpse of our life which we could not share on social media.

Before moving ahead, I want to flaunt this new badge I received as this post has been selected as the Top Post on Blogchatter. Yay!!!

Memory 1

New Year Trip with Family

The first and the most beautiful memory is the one from when we entered the year 2022. So, I have a belief that if I start my first day of the new year doing what I like doing the most then there’s a greater chance that I will continue doing that all year round. And, that’s why I make efforts to plan a trip around that time with my family. So, on 1st Jan 2022, I was with my family, my husband, my son and my mother, in Lansdowne, doing what I love doing the most and that is to connect with nature.

But as I said not all memories are great, there are some hiccups in good memories too. So, while we were in Lansdowne we wanted to extend our trip and travel further North to experience the snowfall. But since my mother doesn’t like too much cold she wanted to go back home. Hence, we had to cut short our trip and return back.

However, as you may have heard that every cloud has a silver lining so we found ours too. And, this leads us to our second precious memory.

Memory 2 of 11 Memories of 2022

Our First Snowfall

January was the most thrilling time in my life when we were able to pull off back to back trips within the 1st week only. We came back home from a 5-Day long New Year’s trip only to unpack and pack again for another exciting trip. We had only 1 day to finalize the place and make the final bookings. And, guess what, we did it!

We got to see our life’s first ever snowfall in the Koti Village. It was not just the snowfall but it was my first experience of driving in the snow as well. Those 4 days were magical, it felt like I was in heaven. I didn’t want those days to end.

But as I said earlier good times don’t last forever. Unfortunately, we too had to ran into many challenges during that time. The biggest challenge was to survive in the snow as we had not packed the appropriate bottoms and boots. And, that’s the reason we had to check out a day earlier only to get stuck in the snow because of flat tyre in the middle of nowhere.

Again, we knew that it will not last longer and we will find our happy bubble soon.

Memory 3 

Nemit’s 6th Birthday

We have a very simple rule, every year on Nemit’s birthday we plan a special trip to a beautiful destination.

In 2021, we could not travel due to the covid restrictions. But, his grandmothers made the day special by visiting us and staying with us for Nemit’s birthday.

But, in 2022, we couldn’t plan anything for his special day. There were strict restrictions in Delhi NCR due to the new Corona variant. We 3 were feeling so alone at home. Even though we have decorated the house, arranged for his cake & gifts, there was still a void somewhere.

And, then something unbelievable happened. During the online class, Nemit’s teacher asked him to cut the cake with all his classmates. It was totally unexpected as teachers don’t do that usually. Also, this has never happened before.

It was a beautiful gesture which made our day super memorable. She even played the songs and everybody danced and had a lot of fun. We are truly grateful to Sonam Ma’am for bringing that big smile on Nemit’s face.

Memory 4 of 11 Memories of 2022

Back to Offline School

Until Feb 2022, Nemit had never been to a formal school. He used to go to the Klay Prep Schools. But, when it was time to join a formal school, coronavirus entered our lives locking us inside our homes. So, his first classroom experience was online. Finally, after 2 years, in February 2022, his school started the classes in hybrid mode. Even though I had my doubts about it, Nemit was pretty sure he wanted to go to school. His teachers adored him and he was loved by all his friends.

His first day was super fun and he came back with a big smile on his face. What else could a parent ask for?

However, our dream cloud burst sooner than we expected with the realities of traditional teaching and school’s over the top expectations from their students. The kids were not even allowed a transition time to settle down  properly. The teachers wanted them to sit quietly at one place for long hours. They were discouraged to talk to each other even during the break time. Moreover, kids were not even allowed to take water and washroom breaks.

In my opinion, the school failed miserably at meeting the needs of the children who were coming back to the school after a gap of 2 years.

Still, we waited for things to settle down. But to our horror, everything just went down from the next month.

By April, there were riots happening in the parent’s WhatsApp group, everyone was furious to see their kids suffering. But no one was ready to go and talk to the teachers or even set up a meeting with the Principal.

I lost it the day Nemit told me that some teacher threatened him to lock him in the washroom if he will ask for a break.

This is child abuse for me even if it sounds harmless to others. I could not take it anymore. Those 2 months were the hardest on me to see my child suffering. I have never felt this helpless.

But again we found a ray of hope in all this madness and we decided to move out of our comfort zone.

Memory 5

Bangalore Visit, School & House Hunting

So, Sumit had started a new job in January with a company which is located in Bangalore and we hoped that it will continue WFH for 2022 as well.

But then in April, his company announced hybrid working mode beginning from June. Initially, we were so confused as we couldn’t think of relocating when the school year as already begun. And, there was no chance we would let Sumit go alone leaving us here.

However, the chaos happening at Nemit’s school gave us a chance to consider this opportunity. So, we decided to visit Bengaluru for a few days.

And, when we got to know that the school session begins from June in Bangalore, we took it as a sign.

We landed in Bangalore with zero hopes but it impressed me the moment we got out of the airport. The weather in April was so calming I can’t tell you, I have never felt this good in Delhi during this time of the year.

I had done some homework regarding the schools near Sumit’s office. And, while researching about the education system in Bangalore, I got to know about the Alternative Schools.

I always wanted Nemit to experience the Montessori way of learning.

So, we shortlisted some Montessori Schools and started house hunting around those schools.

But, in Bangalore, looking for a house is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Even after a week, we haven’t found a decent house. I was so heartbroken to see all our time, money and efforts going down the drain. I came here with no hopes but by that time I had already fallen in love with the city.

There was one apartment very near to one of the schools which I liked the most but there were no vacant flats in that building.

But guess what, on the 9th day, we received a call from a broker asking us to see a flat in the same apartment. We couldn’t believe our luck. Bangalore here we come!

Memory 6 of 11 Memories of 2022

Fake Challans & FIR

We have lived in Noida for 7 years in the same apartment building. And, we have made infinite memories in that house. But I was the most happiest one leaving that place. At one moment, I actually felt bad for not feeling any emotions leaving that house. In fact, I was more upset about not being able to meet my mother whenever I want to once we move to Bangalore.

But she assured us that she will keep visiting us whenever she’s free from her Satsang duties. And, I knew there’s nothing that could stop me from visiting her if I miss her or if she wants to see us.

Everything was going well until one day when we received a couple of challans for our vehicle. However, after checking all the details we find out that the challans were wrong. It seemed like someone else was using the same license plate as ours. We had to sort this out before moving our vehicle to another State.

Online Challan

Then started a 2-week long struggle to prove that the vehicle image shown in the challans was not ours. We sent mails to the concerned authorities but didn’t get any reply. We then filed an FIR if in case something goes wrong we should not be held responsible.

The police was not ready to take any action so we took the matter in our hands. We visited the Delhi Traffic Police Headquarters and presented our case with all the proofs. In that moment, my life felt like a part of some Bollywood movie. It was also the time when I started doubting my decision to relocate to Bangalore.

You won’t believe what happened when we met the officials at the DTP HQs.

They actually listened to us, gave us their time, understood our problem and helped us sort out the issue. The issue was not the fake number plate but the low resolution CCTV image captured at night time. It was the system error and they rectified it immediately.

I was so happy that day that I had tears in my eyes, knowing that even a common person can be treated fairly in this corrupted world. They didn’t make us wait, they didn’t ask for a bribe and they treated us with all respect. All this still feels like a dream!

And, a special mention that I got a chance to be inside the Delhi’s main traffic control room. I have never seen such big screens in my life streaming live traffic footage from all over Delhi.

It is a memory I don’t want to forget ever.

You probably have a bunch of usable stuff in your attic or storeroom that can be put to good use. Other than that, it is the perfect excuse to indulge in some Christmas shopping. Staying in will seem like a treat when you implement these easy and creative tips:

1- Winter themed Rugs and Throw Pillows

Time to roll out your thickest carpets, rugs, and mats in the house and get rid of those cold feet. Swap your summer throw pillows with more winter-appropriate ones. My top picks are velvet and plush; I also love the contemporary ones with winter-themed quotes or text. Choose dark, warm, and earth tones to create the perfect ambiance.

2- Candles for Holidays

Candlelight can instantly make a room look cozy and romantic. You can buy candles in all the holiday colors, i.e. red, green, white, and yellow/gold to add a pop of color to your interior. It’s best to choose scentless candles for the dinner table, but scented candles are great for creating that cozy vibe around other parts of the house. Pumpkin spice, vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa butter, and sandalwood are some popular scents for winter feels.

3- Hot Beverage Bar

Coffee and hot chocolate are everything when it’s freezing inside, but you want to feel alive. Setting up a hot beverage bar in the living room will improve convenience and help everyone stay warm; you can make it as fancy as you like. Hello friends, today’s post is my son’s favourite. He’d been sitting with me the whole time while I was working on it. I am sure you can easily guess why he was so interested in this particular blog post. Yes, because it’s all about fun shows for kids. And, which kid would say no to some free entertainment. So, today I am sharing 5 fun and educational shows for kids.

There are so many shows & movies available online for children that sometimes it gets so confusing to decide which one would be appropriate for our child. It was not that difficult when my son was a toddler, it was pretty easy to choose the channel for him since he preferred and enjoyed watching rhymes mostly.

But now it’s different, he has diverse interests and he gets bored easily. Moreover, he rarely likes the shows that we choose for him. So, what we do is we give the control in his hands and let him decide what he wants to watch. But he gets to watch that only after it gets our final approval.

And, now he pretty much knows what kind of shows get our approval. So, you see involving kids in decision-making teaches them responsibility as well. It was a win-win for us.

You will be surprised to know that the fun and educational shows for kids which I am going to share in this post today are discovered by our son and are his ultimate picks.

Well, these are my favourites too because they are not just fun and entertaining but educational as well. Here’s a list of our top 5 fun and educational shows for kids.

1 – Alphablocks

The Alphablocks are 26 living letters who discover that whenever they hold hands and make a word, something magical happens. With adventures, songs and silliness, it’s tons of fun with words – all built on a firm foundation of key phonics skills.

If your kids have just started learning letters and their sounds the phonic way, or they are at the next level, learning how to spell or make words, or even at a higher level, learning how to read or make sentences, then I would strongly recommend you to introduce Alphablocks to them.

The videos proved quite helpful in our case.

2 – Numberblocks

Just like Alphablocks teach the kids all about alphabets, sounds, and words, Numberblocks help them learn how to count, add, subtract, multiply, and much more in a fun and educational way.

If your kids are afraid of Maths, do show them Numberblocks, trust me, they will soon become best friends with these numbers.

3 – It’s AumSum Time

This is not the name of the channel but this is what my son calls it because all the videos start with the same tagline – It’s AumSum Time. The channel name is Smart Learning for All and it’s all about science.

If your kids are full of curiosity and love to question everything around then this channel is for them. All the videos have a question starting with ‘How’, ‘Why’ and ‘What if’ and then goes on answering them in a fun and creative manner.

4 – The Dr. Binocs Show

Another favourite of my son is The Dr. Binocs Shows. Their videos are based on the same theme as AumSum Time. The channel name is Peekaboo Kidz and it covers topics ranging from science, geography, evolution, history, and inventions.

Dr. Binocs zooms in and out of the complicated concepts and makes them easy to understand for kids. The videos are quite informative as well as entertaining.

5 – Blippi

While all the above shows are animated, Blippi is a real character. He’s fun and energetic and knows how to grab the attention of kids with his quirky persona. His videos are interactive, educational, and entertaining, not just for kids but adults too.

The best part of Blippi’s videos is that he takes you to many fun places like museums, zoos, water parks, and even indoor and outdoor playgrounds where he teaches something new in an easy and interactive manner. The kids don’t even realize that Blippi is teaching them and they get to learn so many good things in a fun way.

The Joy of Decorating the House

We live in a rented apartment and that takes away the fun of decorating the house the way we want to. There are so many restrictions that I lose interest to do anything exciting with the home decor. Also, we never know when we may have to move to another place so really can’t invest a lot in it. But I love doing makeovers and it’s not easy to keep away from the joy I get when I decorate my house. It’s the personal touch we add to the house that makes it more like a home, isn’t it?

So, I look for ideas where I can give a new and refreshing look to the dull area by just making a few changes and without investing a lot of money.

Kid’s Room Makeover on a Budget

Last year when the Kindergarten online classes began in April, we tried to make the process of homeschooling easy for our son, Nemit. We wanted him to do his class in the study room but he was not comfortable there and kept running out of the room. So, we shifted Nemit’s study table in the living room, he instantly adjusted to the new setting. Hence, we converted a part of our living area into a homeschool classroom.

This year, Nemit got promoted to Grade 1 and we wanted to do something special for him. So, we decided to give our study room a makeover and convert it into a study + playroom solely for our little one. The room was anyhow turning into a storeroom and was too dull and cluttered and badly needed a makeover.

This is how the room looked before the makeover. It was cluttered and untidy and looked dull and dark due to all the mess around.

A kid’s room without any space makes no sense to me. But, clearly, decluttering was a challenge. Another challenge was the budget, we had to keep it low so we had to repurpose and reuse the things we already had with us.

Things to do

We made a to-do list before starting the makeover. It gave us an idea of what all needs to be done and how much time we will need.

1. Declutter the Room
2. Repurpose and Reuse the Baby Cot
3. Make space for play area
4. Re-arrange the Art & Craft Supply
5. Find a Rack for Toy Storage
6. Make a Reading Nook/Corner
7. Place the Study Table & Whiteboard
8. Place a Rug (the only thing we bought)

We also repurposed our old shoe rack and used it for toy storage. We already had colourful storage boxes, just needed a place to keep them safe and easily accessible.

I tried another DIY idea for the photo frames that were already there in the room. I wanted to change a few pictures to make it look more suitable for a kid’s room.

So, I downloaded some free printables from Pinterest, took the printout on the A4 sheet, and put those in the photo frames. I also tried creating one myself using Canva, it looked really good.

We just bought a new rug for the room from Amazon. I’ll put links for the rug, photo frames, and wall shelves at the end of the post.
