Best Massage Oil for Babies

When I became a mother, the first thing I did was research for all the best baby products available in the market. I wanted nothing short of best for my little one. And today, I am going to discuss the Best Massage Oil for Babies available from Indian Brands.

The next thing I wanted to learn is how to give a massage and a bath to a newborn. Luckily, my mother & mother-in-law were there for a few days to help me out with that. And, I took it as an opportunity to learn about handling a newborn. But then one of my friends who had a six-month-old baby suggested that I hire a professional for this job. As per her experience, it was a better option for an easy & hassle-free bath time routine. I felt tempted but then I read about how massage & bath time can help mothers going through postpartum depression. And, also help to bond better with their babies. Hence, I chose to do it myself.

We all know how beneficial the massage is for babies. But as our little babies grow up and enter the toddler age, either they start resisting massage time or parents stop doing it thinking it’s not necessary now. However, I would suggest, you still do it occasionally because of the many health benefits associated with a good massage.

Frequency of Massage as per Age

Newborns – 2-3 times a week (gentle massage)

Babies (0-1 y) – Twice daily (or thrice)

Toddlers (1-2 y) – Once daily (or twice)

Pre-schoolers (2-3 y) – At least once a week

Kindergartners (3-5 y) – Once a week or twice a month

Benefits of a Regular Massage for Babies & Toddlers

As I mentioned earlier, massage is a great way to bond with your little ones. They can feel your love & care through your touch.

Massaging helps a lot in relaxing & soothing the babies and making them sleep better.

It also has many health benefits for babies. It helps in making the bones & muscles strong & also improves the digestion.

Massaging helps in stimulating their motor development.

It eases any kind of muscle pain which the toddlers otherwise may not be able to tell.

Massaging also helps in reducing stress & anxiety as it helps in lowering the level of stress hormone.

Many studies have proven that regular massage also helps in reducing hyperactivity & aggressiveness in children.

<img aria-describedby="caption-attachment-5596" class=" wp-image-5596" src="http://growingwithnemit.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MotherSparsh-Baby-Massage-Oil.jpeg" alt="When I became a mother, the first thing I did was research for all the best baby products.
Toddlers or older children may not like getting a massage hence you need to find a suitable time when they are not much active. It should be planned in between the meal times so that the child is not too hungry & not too full. You can also make massage time a fun storytelling time or to have a one-to-one conversation with your child.

5 Best Massage Oil for Babies from Indian Brands

Now, coming to the main question, which massage oil is best for my baby? This one is a tricky question and if you go and search the internet you would not find any research-based answer for it. There are two aspects of choosing a massage oil, type of oil, and the brand.

You may choose the type of oil-based on your baby’s skin type, dry, normal, oily, or sensitive. Another thing to keep in mind is the season or the weather while choosing the right oil. Here, in the North, we experience harsh winters, extreme dry summers, and humid rainy seasons. So, rather than sticking with a single oil, I preferred using different oils in different seasons. But that was 5 years back. Presently, I give massage to my soon to be 5-year-old son once or twice a month during the winter season preferably after the bath. And, occasionally during summers before the bath.

Nowadays, you can find oils that work perfectly fine in all the seasons & are suitable for all skin types. Also, there are many brands that offer 100% natural products which are another plus.

Note – Please avoid using mustard oil as it can cause irritation & olive oil can make skin extremely dry due to its high oleic acid content.

Here’s a list of 5 best baby massage oil that you may consider for your baby. I hope this list helps you to choose the best oil for your little one.

1 – Mother Sparsh Baby Massage Oil

Mother Sparsh baby massage oil is 100% ayurvedic, pure, non-toxic, and completely safe for the baby’s delicate skin. Its Ayurvedic formulation consists of a perfect blend of 18 herbs and essential oils. These are Almond, Coconut, Sesame, Avocado, Olive, Jojoba, Lavender, Orange, Wheat germ, Rosehip, Sunflower, Walnut, Shankhpushpi, Durva, Ashwagandha, Tagar, Tamalpatra, and Lajjalu.

This is how Mother Sparsh ayurvedic baby massage oil is prepared by the process of Decoction of herbs & oils.

These herbs and essential oils help in nourishing, relaxing, and strengthening the baby’s bones and muscles. This oil is suitable for all skin types and for use in any weather. But since it has natural ingredients, it can be allergic to some kids hence they recommend a patch test.

Almond Oil has antifungal properties that are highly useful in skin development.

Sesame Oil nourishes the dry & damaged skin, also detoxifies the dry skin.

Mother Sparsh oil is pure & gentle and gets easily absorbed into the baby’s skin. Also, its fragrance is not too strong so it will not irritate your baby’s nose too. It is one of the best massage oils for babies with all the wonderful qualities.

2 – Himalaya Baby

Himalaya baby massage oil is infused with Olive oil & Winter cherry. While olive oil is known to nourish, protect, and soften baby’s skin, winter cherry is known for rejuvenating and skin-conditioning properties. It also helps soothe and condition the skin.

Benefits of Himalaya Baby Massage Oil:

It is a vegetable-based massage oil

It moisturizes and softens the baby’s skin

This oil is free from mineral oil and lanolin

I used Himalaya massage oil for my son when he was a toddler. Since it is light & non-sticky, it worked well during summers. But it didn’t moisturize well during the cold season so I had to switch to Mamaearth.

MRP – 100/- (100 ml)

3 – Mamaearth Soothing Massage Oil

The main ingredients are Sesame oil, Almond oil, Coconut oil & Jojoba oil. Almond oil moisturizes as well as repairs the dry skin. Jojoba oil nourishes & makes skin soft while keeping sun damage away. It is suitable for all skin types and in all seasons. I liked using Mamaearth massage oil in winters since it kept my son’s skin moisturized for the whole day. But I had to discontinue it in the summers since it’s a dense oil & felt too heavy on the skin resulting in prickly heat.

I was looking for a single oil that can be used in all seasons without any worry.

MRP – 399/- (200 ml)

4 – Dabur Baby

Dabur Lal Tail has been ruling the baby massage oil market for many years. My mother has used it for me and she recommended that I try it for my son as well. She claimed it to be the best massage oil for babies.

I did use it but found it a little dense and greasy & only suitable for use during the winter season. This is also an ayurvedic oil with key ingredients such as Sesame oil, Ratanjyot, Shankhpushpi, Camphor & Urad. MRP – 360/- (500 ml)

If I compare Dabur & Mother Sparsh Ayurvedic baby massage oil then definitely the Mother Sparsh oil is much better as per my experience. It is much lighter in consistency and gets absorbed easily by the skin. Also, its ayurvedic formulation consists of 18 herbs and essential oils.

Dabur has recently launched its new Baby care range. The new Dabur baby oil is enriched with baby-loving ayurvedic herbs, olives, almonds & jojoba. MRP – 225/- (200 ml)

5 – Maate Baby Body Massage Oil

Maate is a premium Indian baby care brand. Their massage oil is enriched with nature’s best herbs, premium oils & plant extracts.
I discovered this brand recently and have yet not tried any of their products because of their high price range.

My Hair Care Routine and Review of Mamaearth Products

Hey guys, hope you all are having a good hair day! Today I am going to talk about my hair care routine. Alongside, I will share my reviews on Mamaearth’s Shampoo and Conditioner for Mama. I have been using for the last 4 weeks now.

When I received these 2 products I was quite sceptical to try these on as I had my hair treated with keratin therapy some 3 months back and I was advised to use only the recommended products. Hence, the first thing that I did was a little research about the ingredients used in Mamaearth’s Shampoo and Conditioner. And I was surprised to discover that these products are free from harsh chemicals and consists of all the natural ingredients.

Well, that was enough for me to use these since I had been putting in loads of harmful chemicals into my hair to get them straight and silky then why not try something organic which is actually good for my hair.

But before writing down my reviews of these products, I want to share my hair care routine and some tips that work really well for me. Also, I want to mention that the texture of my hair is quite thick and wavy but these have been treated a lot with various harsh chemicals during re-bonding and straightening in the last 10 years.

Also, many times hair type, as well as the quality of hair, is determined by genetic factors but taking proper diet and following a good hair care routine can keep your hair healthy and free from problems.

My Hair Care Routine

I will not go into detail as most of us are already aware of the benefits of these steps.

Oiling – I make sure to oil massage my hair at least once a week in summers and twice or thrice a week in winters. I use coconut oil with a few drops of lemon mixed into it for summers and a mixture of almond and olive oil for winters. I get the best results if I keep the oil in hair overnight and wash them in the morning.

TIP – Put more oil into the roots and scalp not just the hair and massage in the circular motion.

Shampooing – I never use a single brand of shampoo for more than 6 months, I always alternate between 2-3 brands. Now that we have many organic products easily available in the market I have started using the mild organic shampoo for my hair like recently I am using Mamaearth’s Happy Heads Shampoo which is completely natural.

I never wash my hair daily, it’s usually once a week in winters and twice in summers depending on the condition of my hair. If I had spent the day outside amidst dust and pollution, I wash hair with plain water, massage oil into the roots, leave overnight and shampoo in the morning.

TIP – Don’t wash hair daily, and never use hot water.

Conditioning – Using a good hair conditioner is really important to moisturize and nourish hair and reduce the damage. I use a conditioner every time I shampoo my hair. Somedays, when I have to go out and I am having a bad hair day, I skip shampooing and just use the conditioner to wash hair.

I prefer using Oil replacement cream for days when I skip oiling due to any reasons.

TIP – After applying conditioner, cover hair with a warm wet towel for atleast 5 minutes before rinsing it off.

After Wash Care

After washing hair, I tie them up in a soft dry towel for 5 minutes which soaks up any extra dripping water.

Now, after removing the towel, I leave my hair as it is for 10 minutes for air drying, and use fingers to de-tangle them.

Then, I use a broad tooth comb and run it from roots to tips 2-3 times very gently.

Lastly, I leave them to dry their own, I rarely use a blower and whenever I use it, I set it at the lowest heat.

Now that’s all about my routine and some of the tips that work wonders for my hair. It’s time to review my new Shampoo and Conditioner from Mamaearth.

This Shampoo claims to gently cleanse and nourish the scalp. Yes, after using 8 times over 4 weeks I definitely felt the difference. My scalp doesn’t feel as dry as before. Also considering that it’s winters, no dry scalp is really an amazing result.

TIP – Don’t apply large quantity in order to get more lather, as it won’t. Because it’s sulfate free.

Price – 349/- for 200 ml

No More Tangles Conditioner

As the name suggests, it claims to detangle the hair as well as nourish them from root to tip. As this conditioner is non-greasy, applying it up to the roots was a little difficult. Since the texture of my hair is quite thick. But after rinsing I was surprised to see the results. I could simply pass my fingers through the hair even before combing.

It consists of Milk protein which makes the hair soft and silky.

It consists of Cocoa butter which is known for many great qualities like it deeply moisturizes, repair dry & damaged hair and not just that, it helps in rejuvenating chemically processed hair and that’s why I am going to stick to this conditioner.

This conditioner also consists of Fenugreek, which has amazing benefits for hair. Fenugreek has protein and Vitamin C which encourages hair growth and energizes hair follicles.

TIP – Start applying it from the roots working towards the tip. Massage the roots for few minutes before rinsing it off.

My suggestion to the brand –

When I received the products, they were packed in a cardboard box which was visibly damaged. After opening it, I found that the Shampoo bottle had a small dent and its pump was not working. Then I noticed that all other pump dispenser bottles come with a cap. So, my suggestion to the brand is either they look into their supply chain. Or, improve the product packaging to avoid any chances of damage before reaching the customer.

I am going to use these for at least 3 months to actually notice any visible results in terms of increased hair growth. And, also reduced hair fall or improved hair quality.

Apart from this, I am quite happy and satisfied with instant results. I can feel the difference in my hair, they feel more moisturized. And, I am letting them loose for a long time now as they are more manageable.

Have you tried Mamaearth’s Products? I suggest you should check out their collection on https://mamaearth.in/
