The Last Decade & My Love for Travel #DecadeHop #RRxMM

Travel in the Last Decade

Hello everyone, hope you all are doing great. Finally, I’m writing my first post of this month and the year 2020. All thanks to Manas and Rashi for coming up with this blog hop. The theme of this blog hop is ‘Decade’ and I have no idea what I’m going to write about my gone by years. And I’m clueless about my aspirations for the next decade. Frankly, there’s nothing interesting or inspiring about my life which is worth sharing (if I look at it as a whole).

I have a very normal life with balanced ups and downs. I finished my MBA & got my 1st job in 2010, got married in 2015, became a mother in 2016, started a blog ‘Growing with Nemit’ as a hobby in 2017 (started getting paid collabs from the 5th month), hobby became a passion and I started calling myself a blogger in 2018, and in 2019 I published an eBook ‘Travel India with a Toddler‘ with the Blogchatter. So, I have quite a happy, balanced & satisfied life. No complaints No qualms.

This may seem like a boring life journey to many. But there is something which makes my life adventurous. And that’s my love for travel! A constant in my life.

You may also want to read – 40 places I want to visit before I turn 40!

My love for adventure travel goes back to my childhood when trekking meant going on long yatras (pilgrimages) with my parents. So even before I finished school I had been on almost all the famous Hindu Holy expeditions from Vaishno Devi to Yamnotri to Gangotri to Badrinath to Kedarnath & even to Hemkunth Sahib. And I would always convince my parents to allow me to join the school & college trips.

But my actual travel journey started in 2010 when I finished my post-graduation & started working. My mom became my travel partner & together we planned some amazing trips every year until I got married. We did face some roadblocks but what’s life without challenges!

But hey, nothing could stop us from dreaming!

My marriage (2015) or motherhood (2016) didn’t stop me from living my travel dream, now I got 2 more enthusiastic travel partners, my husband & my son. My mom still travels with us whenever she’s free.

The best part, we could also convince my Mother-in-law to travel with us. Some of our best trips are the ones where we all 5 travelled together.

Two of my most favourite trips with both my moms are the Andaman Islands and Kashmir (2018)

So, here are some pics of fun travels with mom from the first half of the last decade.

The Last Decade

2010 – Kerala

2010 Kerala- Travel in the last decade

The year 2010 – Clockwise from the left- Vivekananda Rock Memorial -Kanyakumari, Athirappilly waterfalls – Kerala, Kovalam Houseboat – Kerala

It was our first long trip & we travelled like locals for 10 days.

The year 2011 – Mc Leodganj, Dharamshala

Our 1st road trip by local transport. Travelled by sleeper bus, auto, shared taxi and also experienced the fun of toy train.

2012 – The Andaman Islands (Jan), Manali (May), Mt. Abu (July)

2012 Manali & Mt Abu - 2011 Mc Leodganj Dharamshala - Travel in the last decade

The year 2012 – Clockwise from the left – Rohtang Pas – Manali, Adventure activity (rappelling) at Jogni falls – Manali, Bhramkumari’s – Mt Abu, Paragliding at Solang Valley – Manali

It was our 1st road trip by car when I drove all the way to Kiratpur and then we took a local bus to reach Manali since I was not confident about driving in the hills. Also, I did all the adventure sports there all alone, it was Amazing!

Sorry couldn’t find pics from our Andaman trip, will update that later.

I got a chance to visit Mt Abu when mom had to attend a Cardiology conference there.

2013 – Lansdowne

2013 Lansdowne

The year 2013 – a Road trip to Lansdowne

Our 2nd road trip by car and my first experience of driving through the mountains.

2014 – Meghalaya

2014 Meghalaya - Travel in the last decade

The Year 2014 – Trip to Meghalaya – Trek to Double Dekker Root Bridge, Cherrapunjee

This was a 10-day long trip, explored Guwahati, Shillong & Cherrapunjee. And the highlight of the trip was this trek to the famous Double Dekker Root Bridge. It was raining that day & we couldn’t find a guide to help us through the trek. So, we borrowed a map from our hotel and went all alone.

My mom is a woman of few words but she has taught me life’s biggest and most important lessons through her actions. She’s one strong-willed, fearless & confident woman I know who has taught me how to handle situations and overcome obstacles and never be dependent on anyone for anything. She showed me how love can heal any wound and family is the biggest strength one can have.

It’s only because of my mom’s support I could dream of exploring new places. And now with my family’s support, I am living that dream. We explored around 26 new destinations in the last 5 years.

And the recent one was our trip to Mumbai & Goa (Jan 2020)

Arey waah a traveller!! Even I love traveling though I dont blog about travel but apart from cooking I love travelling. Even I have been for treks and visited hemkund sahib. It is a very serene place. Have mostly been to North and even travelled south. My husband and I both love to travel hence after marriage it was even more fun as we two have a gala planning each trip. Travel gives us a new experience each time.
