Cloth Diapering – Types of Cloth Diapers

Cloth Diapers

If you are a parent and highly active on social media sites. then I am sure you must have heard about Modern Cloth Diapers somewhere in the recent past. And many of you who keep themselves updated about the recent trends must be knowing about the hot and trendy collection of cloth diapers available on the market.

Now the question comes, Are You A Cloth Diapering Parent?

The answer to the above question may range from Definitely Yes to Not Yet. I am answering on behalf of few of my friends whom I talked to about cloth diapers and many of them were aware of these diapers but were muddled with so many varieties available to choose from that they just couldn’t decide on which one will be the best choice for their babies.

So, there are parents who are completely not aware of any such Modern Cloth Diapering thing and then there are those who are well informed about the trend but clearly lack the knowledge about types of cloth diapers to choose from.

I am writing this post for parents to inform them about the choice they have over disposable diapers and to uncomplicate the process of choosing the perfect type for theirĀ little ones.

There are basically 3 main types of Cloth Diapers

1- Cover Diapers

2- Pocket Diapers

3- All-in-One Diapers

Let’s see how these three differ from each other.

Cover Diapers

blank

  • These diapers are just the outer covers which are waterproof.

  • You need to buy a separate Insert to put on the inner side of the diaper.

  • These can be used with disposable liners too.

Pocket Diapers

blank

  • Pocket Diapers are same as Cover Diapers, the only difference is these have an inner lining attached.

  • These have a pocket opening on one side hence the name.

  • You can put an insert inside the pocket for extra absorption.

All-in-One Diapers

blank

  • As the name suggests, All-in-One diapers are one-piece diapers having the inner lining as well as the insert stitched on the inside of the inner lining.

  • As these diapers also have a pocket, an extra insert can also be used to get more absorption.

The information I shared here is the most basic which will clear doubts about types of Cloth Diapers available in the market.

Now, the next question arises, What are the inserts and liners and how to choose these?

I will be answering this question in my next post. Stay tuned!

Meanwhile, if you have any questions related to today’s post on types of cloth diapers, leave a comment below and I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge. And if you are already using these diapers, then share with me which one is your favorite. Happy Cloth Diapering!

P.S- I have used all these 3 types of cloth diapers for my baby and have found All-in-One diapers best as per my baby’s need and ease of use.

I am still contemplating about cloth diapering. I am clueless about how it works in the US. WIth all the weather conditions here. Having said that when I had a thought to start and i just joined the CD group. I got an impression that may be its too complicated as so many Q&A’s were overwhelming for me. This post will definitely help for every beginners.

Aaah… how I wish I had access to such a wonderful piece of information 2 years back. My twins are almost touching the next stage of exiting diaper days but I would suggest recommend these eco friendly options to my friends and new moms.

I wish these were available when my girls were small. I mostly used disposable ones as we were in the US. I will share your post to my friends with small babies.
