Hectic weekdays- Just Mom & Sons

Hectic Weekdays

Hello everyone, I want to talk about my hectic days as a SAHM- Stay At Home Mom.

Nobody cares and doesn’t even want to know what a Stay At Home Mom does because of the cliché that non-working women/moms don’t do anything at home. They have the easiest life, just sitting at home, resting, talking over the phone, watching TV and spending time with the baby.

We are in a nuclear setup, that means 5 days a week I am all alone with my 2 super active babies and these days are the craziest.

My day starts around 7-8 in the morning, with gulping down my Thyroid medicine as soon as I open up my eyes. After that, it’s a marathon which I have to run in the kitchen to finish preparing breakfast and lunch by 9.30 am. And then it’s family’s time to have the 1st meal of the day together. The clock strikes 10 and we wave a bye and a kiss to papa and off he goes cycling towards his office (which is just 15 mins away).

I take about an hour to settle the house and do some chores like dusting, tiding the rooms, setting the washing machine and clearing the kitchen. And then it’s Nemit’s nap time which gives me some time to check my phone and use the “Internet”. Before he wakes up, I try to arrange some activities which can keep him busy until I prepare the table for lunch.

We spend some good 30-60 mins finishing our meal. Nemit & Caesar get energized to take on the second half of the day with full charge.

Till 6 in the evening, I try to keep both Nemit and Caesar busy in some fun activities, games, running around the house, singing and acting out rhymes, reading books and learning some new words and actions. In between the play, I always find some time to peek into my phone and catch up with the virtual world.

Evening Time

After draining all my energy by evening, I make him sit in his booster chair and give him some snacks which keep him busy and I get time for preparing dinner. Thank God our dinner is always light so I save some energy there.

Oh wow! Finally, the day is almost over, Papa is back home, which we celebrate by dancing and clapping and jumping..’Yay…Papa aa gaye’ (Yay…Papa is home). And then it’s time for Papa to take over the duty. They go for an evening walk and I get some ME time. Before retiring to bed, I catch up on my online courses.

I don’t get much time for resting, talking over the phone or even switching on the TV. Most people have the perception that a homemaker has the laziest weekdays but the reality is poles apart. Days are HECTIC!

So the days are crazy, a bit tired, a little frustrated but at the end, it’s the feeling of contentment which keeps me going.

That’s my typical day, what about you? Want to hear about your days- working moms, SAHM, WFHM?

Spread the love

My hats off to you mama, staying at home is no joke. I am a kindergarten teacher, so I get best of both worlds. I work throughout the school year and stay home full time in the summer. It’s hard both ways though, working all day and than coming home to care for two kiddos is so hard, and I am solo parenting because my husband travels a lot for work. Your day sounds super busy just like mine.

Your day doesn’t surprise me a bit! I got to enjoy being a stay at home mom when I was on summer break from teaching. I thorougly enjoying getting to spend so much time with my daughter, but mommy activities weren’t really high on the priority list! It seemed like if I wasn’t doing something for Mia, cleaning or cooking, my husband had things that he needed done! Running errands for him sometimes took part of my day as well because he had to work all day and where we live everything closes at 5 or 5:30. Now that I am back to work, I miss being at home. I have more “Me” time I guess but it’s a struggle to get everything done at home and its just plain exhausting!
